대구한의대학교(총장 변창훈)는 최근 세인트조셉대학교를 방문해 K-MEDI 기반 산학협력 및 글로벌 교육 협력 강화를 위한 교류 협의를 진행했다고 밝혔다.

이번 방문은 양 기관이 교육·연구·산업을 연계한 글로벌 협력 모델을 구축하고, 고령화 사회 대응을 위한 헬스케어 분야 협력 가능성을 모색하기 위해 마련됐다.

양 대학은 협의를 통해 ▲한의학 기반 고령친화 헬스케어 협력 ▲전통의학과 연계한 식품·화장품 등 융합 산업 공동 비즈니스 모델 개발 ▲학생 교류 및 복수학위(Double Degree) 프로그램 운영 ▲포르투갈어권 국가(CPLP) 네트워크를 활용한 글로벌 시장 진출 전략 등을 주요 협력 과제로 논의했다.

이날 방문에는 변창훈 총장을 비롯해 송지청 국제교류처장 등 대학 관계자가 참석했으며, USJ 측에서는 알레한드로 살세도 행정부총장 겸 총장 대행과 장서광 대외협력 및 기관발전 부총장 등 주요 관계자들이 함께했다.

변창훈 총장은 “USJ가 보유한 포르투갈어권 네트워크는 대구한의대학교의 K-MEDI 기반 글로벌 확장 전략과 높은 시너지를 낼 수 있는 자산”이라며 “양 기관 협력을 통해 고령화 대응 헬스케어 분야의 글로벌 교육·연구 모델을 구축해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

USJ 측은 스마트 노인 헬스케어 연구와 지역사회 기반 건강 프로젝트, 세포 영양 및 장수 연구 등 고령화 대응 분야의 주요 성과를 공유하며 협력 의지를 나타냈다.

특히 양 기관은 마카오를 거점으로 전통의학 산업 확장과 헬스케어·AI 융합 기술 개발, ‘스마트 에이지드 케어(Smart Aged Care)’ 실현을 위한 다자 협력 모델 구축 가능성에 공감대를 형성했다.

양 대학은 이번 논의를 바탕으로 글로벌 캠퍼스 구축을 포함한 실질적 협력 추진을 위해 업무협약 체결과 단계별 협력 로드맵 수립을 검토해 나갈 계획이다.

Daegu Hani University has set out to expand global cooperation with Saint Joseph University in Macau, focusing on the healthcare sector to address the aging population.

Daegu Hani University (President Byun Chang-hoon) announced that it recently visited Saint Joseph University to hold discussions on strengthening industry-academia collaboration and global education cooperation based on K-MEDI.

This visit was arranged for both institutions to establish a global cooperation model linking education, research, and industry, and to explore possibilities for cooperation in the healthcare sector to address the aging society.

Through the discussions, the two universities discussed key cooperation tasks, including: ▲ cooperation in age-friendly healthcare based on Korean medicine; ▲ development of joint business models for convergence industries such as food and cosmetics linked to traditional medicine; ▲ operation of student exchange and double degree programs; and ▲ global market entry strategies utilizing the network of Portuguese-speaking countries (CPLP).

The visit was attended by university officials, including President Byun Chang-hoon and Director of International Exchange Song Ji-cheong, while key officials from USJ were present, including Vice President for Administration and Acting President Alejandro Salcedo and Vice President for External Relations and Institutional Development Jang Seo-kwang.

President Byun Chang-hoon stated, “USJ’s Portuguese-speaking network is an asset capable of creating high synergy with Daegu Hani University’s K-MEDI-based global expansion strategy,” adding, “Through cooperation between the two institutions, we will establish a global education and research model in the field of healthcare to address the aging population.”

USJ expressed its commitment to cooperation by sharing major achievements in the field of responding to the aging population, such as smart elderly healthcare research, community-based health projects, and research on cellular nutrition and longevity.

In particular, the two institutions reached a consensus on the potential to establish a multilateral cooperation model to expand the traditional medicine industry, develop healthcare and AI convergence technologies, and realize ‘Smart Aged Care,’ using Macau as a base.

Based on these discussions, both universities plan to review the signing of a memorandum of understanding and the establishment of a phased cooperation roadmap to promote substantive cooperation, including the construction of a global campus.
