앞서 대구한의대학교는 지난 3월 31일 다솜둥지복지재단과 상호협력 협약을 체결하고, 지역사회 취약계층 주거환경 개선과 연계한 실천형 교육 모델 구축에 나선 바 있다. 이어 4월 7일에는 영천시 임고면 행정복지센터 앞에서 ‘농촌 주거환경 개선사업 발대식’을 개최하며 사업의 시작을 알렸다.

이날 행사에는 임고면장과 자인면장, 지역 이장단을 비롯해 실내디자인학과 정지석 교수, 최준호 교수, 학생 대표 심가은 씨 등 30여 명과 스타코 관계자 등이 참석해 사업 추진 의지를 공유했다.

이번 사업은 영천시 임고면과 자양면 일대 3가구를 대상으로 진행되며, 학생들이 직접 참여하는 현장 중심 주거환경 개선 프로젝트로 운영된다. 대상지는 자양면 성곡리와 임고면 삼매반곡길, 평천다산길 일원 등으로, 농촌 지역 특유의 공간적 분산 구조가 반영된 사례다.

사업에 앞서 학생들은 대상 가구에 대한 현장조사와 실측을 완료하고, 이를 바탕으로 개선 방향을 도출했다. 특히 각 대상지가 서로 떨어져 있어 이동과 조사에 어려움이 있었지만, 지역 관계자들의 협조로 원활한 진행이 이뤄졌다. 현장조사 이후 집결지 이동 과정에서도 지역사회의 지원이 이어지며 대학과 지역 간 협력 체계가 실질적으로 작동하는 모습을 보였다.

대구한의대학교 실내디자인학과는 지난 5년간 ‘서상길 주거환경 개선사업’을 통해 총 25가구의 주거환경을 개선해 온 바 있으며, 지역사회와 연계한 대표적인 사회공헌 모델로 평가받고 있다. 이번 사업은 기존 성과를 바탕으로 대상 지역을 영천으로 확대하고, 대학·재단·지자체·주민이 함께하는 협력 구조로 보다 체계적으로 추진될 예정이다.

정지석 교수는 “이번 사업은 협약에 그치지 않고 실제 현장에서 실행되는 교육과 사회공헌이 결합된 모델”이라며 “학생들이 전공을 활용해 지역 문제 해결에 참여함으로써 교육적·사회적 가치를 동시에 실현할 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

The event was attended by approximately 30 people, including the heads of Imgo-myeon and Jain-myeon, local village heads, Professors Jeong Ji-seok and Choi Jun-ho from the Department of Interior Design, and student representative Shim Ga-eun, as well as representatives from Starco, who shared their commitment to the project. This project targets three households in the Imgo-myeon and Jayang-myeon areas of Yeongcheon-si and is operated as a field-oriented residential environment improvement project in which students participate directly. The target sites include Seonggok-ri in Jayang-myeon and the Sammaebangok-gil and Pyeongcheondasan-gil areas in Imgo-myeon, reflecting the spatially dispersed structure characteristic of rural regions.

Prior to the project, students completed on-site surveys and measurements of the target households and derived improvement directions based on these findings. Although there were difficulties in travel and surveying due to the scattered nature of the target sites, the project proceeded smoothly thanks to the cooperation of local officials. Support from the local community continued even during the process of moving to the designated meeting point after the on-site surveys, demonstrating that the cooperative system between the university and the region is effectively functioning.

Over the past five years, the Department of Interior Design at Daegu Hani University has improved the residential environments of a total of 25 households through the "Seosang-gil Residential Environment Improvement Project," and is recognized as a representative social contribution model linked to the local community. Building on previous achievements, this project will expand the target area to Yeongcheon and is planned to be implemented more systematically through a cooperative structure involving the university, foundation, local government, and residents.

Professor Jeong Ji-seok stated, “This project is a model that combines education and social contribution implemented in the field, going beyond mere agreements,” adding, “I expect that students will realize both educational and social values ​​simultaneously by utilizing their majors to participate in solving local problems.”
