【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=영천고등학교 창의체험 경찰동아리 ‘POLIC’ 소속 학생들이 경찰 진로를 체험하는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌다.

영천고 학생 14명은 지난 10일 오후 2시 인솔교사와 함께 대구한의대학교 경찰행정학과를 방문해 전공체험 프로그램에 참여했다. 이번 프로그램은 경찰을 희망하는 고등학생들에게 실질적인 진로 탐색 기회를 제공하기 위해 마련됐다.

이날 학생들은 글로컬 혁신대학으로서 대구한의대학교 경찰행정학과의 교육과정을 직접 체험했다. 프로그램은 박동균 교수의 ‘대한민국 경찰의 비전과 꿈, 경찰관이 되는 방법’ 특강을 시작으로 유도 수업 참관과 원포인트 레슨, 경찰 장비 사용법 및 호신술 체험 등 다양한 실습 중심으로 진행됐다.

대구한의대학교 경찰행정학과는 2005년 개설 이후 매년 10명 이상 경찰공무원 합격자를 배출하는 등 경쟁력을 갖춘 학과로 평가받고 있다.

행사를 주관한 박동균 교수는 “고등학생들이 희망 진로와 관련된 대학을 직접 방문해 전공을 체험하는 것은 매우 바람직한 과정”이라며 “경찰을 꿈꾸는 학생들에게 직업의 특성과 비전을 정확히 전달하고, 경찰관이 되는 방법을 체계적으로 소개하는 의미 있는 시간이었다”고 말했다.

이어 “경찰행정학과는 1학년부터 이론과 실기를 병행해 체계적인 교육을 실시하고 있으며, 유도 단증 취득을 필수화하는 등 실무 역량 강화에 힘쓰고 있다”며 “경찰 시험 대비를 위한 기출문제 분석과 체력·면접 대응 전략까지 종합적으로 지원하고 있다”고 설명했다.

프로그램에 참여한 학생들은 “형법 판례를 ‘선녀와 나무꾼’ 사례로 설명한 특강이 인상 깊었고, 삼단봉 등 경찰 장비 체험도 흥미로웠다”며 “유익한 경험이었다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

변창훈 대구한의대학교 총장은 “경찰과 소방 등 공직 진출을 희망하는 학생들을 위한 지원을 확대하고, 글로컬30 사업과 연계한 장학금 및 해외연수 기회도 적극 제공하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Students from the ‘POLIC’ creative experience police club at Yeongcheon High School had a meaningful time experiencing a career in the police force.

On the afternoon of the 10th at 2:00 PM, 14 students from Yeongcheon High School, accompanied by their supervising teacher, visited the Department of Police Administration at Daegu Hani University to participate in a major experience program. This program was organized to provide practical career exploration opportunities for high school students aspiring to become police officers.

On this day, the students directly experienced the curriculum of the Department of Police Administration at Daegu Hani University, which operates as a Glocal Innovation University. The program began with a special lecture by Professor Park Dong-gyun titled "The Vision and Dreams of the Korean Police and How to Become a Police Officer," followed by various hands-on activities including observing a judo class, receiving one-point lessons, and experiencing the use of police equipment and self-defense techniques.

Since its establishment in 2005, the Department of Police Administration at Daegu Hani University has been recognized as a competitive department, producing more than 10 successful police officer candidates every year. Professor Park Dong-gyun, who organized the event, stated, “It is a highly desirable process for high school students to directly visit universities related to their desired career paths and experience the majors firsthand.” He added, “It was a meaningful time to accurately convey the characteristics and vision of the profession to students dreaming of becoming police officers, and to systematically introduce the path to becoming a police officer.”

He further explained, “The Department of Police Administration conducts systematic education combining theory and practice starting from the first year, and is striving to strengthen practical capabilities by making the acquisition of Judo black belt certificates mandatory.” He continued, “We provide comprehensive support, ranging from analyzing past exam questions to developing strategies for physical fitness and interviews to prepare for the police exam.”

Students who participated in the program shared their impressions, saying, “The special lecture explaining criminal law precedents using the ‘Fairy and the Woodcutter’ case was impressive, and experiencing police equipment such as telescopic batons was also interesting. It was a beneficial experience.”

Byun Chang-hoon, President of Daegu Hani University, stated, “We will expand support for students hoping to enter public service, such as the police and fire departments, and actively provide scholarships and overseas training opportunities linked to the Glocal 30 project.”
