대구한의대학교는 2월 2일 오전 11시 30분 서울 한국애견연맹 본부에서 반려동물산업학과(학과장 송광영)와 한국애견연맹 간 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이번 협약은 반려동물 미용·훈련·산업 전반에 걸친 협력 기반을 마련하고, 학문과 산업의 동반 성장을 도모하기 위해 추진됐다. 한국애견연맹은 2021년부터 대구한의대학교 반려동물보건학과와 협력해 왔으며, 2025년 신설된 반려동물산업학과와는 이번이 첫 공식 협약이다.

협약식 이후에는 2026년도 반려동물 미용대회 및 훈련(행동)대회 개최를 위한 실무 협의도 함께 진행됐다. 양 기관은 해당 대회를 대구한의대학교에서 개최하는 방안을 포함해 행사 운영과 공동 추진 방향을 지속 논의하기로 했다.

이날 행사에는 한국애견연맹 전월남 총장과 정태규 사무국장 등 주요 임원진이 참석해 향후 산학협력 확대 방안과 공동 사업 추진 계획을 공유했다.

대구한의대학교는 반려동물보건학과, 반려동물산업학과, 일반대학원 동물보건학과 등 관련 학과 현황을 소개하고, 한국애견연맹 주관 행사에서 대학 및 학과 홍보 협조를 요청했다.

송광영 반려동물산업학과장은 “이번 협약은 한국애견연맹의 전국 네트워크를 기반으로 학과 인지도 제고는 물론, 학생들의 현장 실습과 졸업 후 취업 연계까지 이어질 수 있는 실질적 협력의 출발점”이라며 “산업 현장과 긴밀히 연계한 실무 중심 교육과 산학협력을 지속 확대하겠다”고 밝혔다.

이번 협약을 계기로 반려동물 산업 분야의 전문인력 양성과 대학-산업체 간 협력 모델이 한층 강화될 것으로 기대된다.

Following the signing ceremony, practical discussions were held to discuss hosting the 2026 Pet Grooming and Training (Behavior) Competition. The two institutions agreed to continue discussing the operation of the event and the direction of joint development, including the possibility of hosting the competition at Daegu Haany University.

Key executives from the Korea Kennel Federation, including President Jeon Wol-nam and Secretary General Jeong Tae-gyu, attended the event and shared plans for expanding industry-academia cooperation and joint projects.

Daegu Haany University presented the current status of related departments, including the Department of Companion Animal Health, the Department of Companion Animal Industry, and the Department of Animal Health at the Graduate School, and requested cooperation in promoting the university and its department at events hosted by the Korea Kennel Federation.

Dean Song Gwang-yeong of the Department of Companion Animal Industry stated, "This agreement serves as the starting point for practical cooperation that will not only enhance the department's recognition through the Korea Kennel Federation's nationwide network, but also lead to on-the-job training and employment opportunities for students after graduation. We will continue to expand practical education and industry-academia cooperation closely linked to industry."

This agreement is expected to further strengthen the training of professionals in the pet industry and the university-industry cooperation model.
