【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=글로컬대학 대구한의대학교(총장 변창훈) 반려동물산업학과는 최근 서울대학교 국제농업기술대학원을 방문해 학술 및 교육 협력을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이번 협약은 반려동물 산업·보건 분야와 경제동물·축산 분야 간 융합 교육과 연구 협력을 강화하기 위해 추진됐다. 양 기관은 각자의 교육·연구 역량을 바탕으로 인적·학술 교류를 확대해 미래 동물산업을 이끌 전문 인재 양성에 힘을 모으기로 했다.

대구한의대 방문단은 협약에 앞서 서울대 국제농업기술대학원 소개를 듣고 실습실과 실습농장(우사·계사), 실험동물실습실 등 주요 교육·연구 시설을 둘러보며 양 기관의 인프라를 공유했다.

이어 진행된 협약식에는 양 대학 대학원 원장과 부원장, 학과장 등 주요 보직자가 참석해 협력 방향과 향후 교류 확대 방안에 대해 논의했다. 특히 서울대학교 국제농업기술대학원 경제동물과학전공 강상기 교수와 협약 이후의 구체적인 실행 방안을 협의하고, 축산동물 전공자를 대상으로 반려동물 산업의 현황과 교육·연구 수요에 대한 발표도 함께 진행했다.

양 기관은 오는 2026년부터 서울대학교 교수진의 특강을 시작으로 본격적인 인적·학술 교류를 추진할 계획이다. 이를 통해 학생들이 반려동물과 축산 분야를 함께 이해할 수 있는 교육 기회를 확대하고, 졸업 후 진로 선택의 폭을 넓힌다는 방침이다.

송광영 대구한의대학교 반려동물산업학과장은 “이번 협력은 학과 교육 경쟁력 강화는 물론 학생들의 진로와 취업 역량을 높이는 데 큰 도움이 될 것”이라며 “지속적이고 실효성 있는 협력 모델을 만들어 가겠다”고 말했다.

The Department of Companion Animal Industry at Daegu Haany University (President Byun Chang-hoon) recently visited Seoul National University's International Graduate School of Agricultural Technology and announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for academic and educational cooperation.

Prior to the signing, the Daegu Haany University delegation received an introduction to Seoul National University's International Graduate School of Agricultural Technology and toured key educational and research facilities, including laboratories, training farms (cow and chicken houses), and laboratory animal laboratories, sharing the infrastructure of both institutions.

The signing ceremony was followed by key officials from both universities, including the Deans, Vice Deans, and Department Chairs, who discussed the direction of cooperation and plans for future expansion. In particular, the two organizations discussed specific implementation plans following the agreement with Professor Sang-ki Kang of the Department of Animal Science and Economics at Seoul National University's Graduate School of International Agricultural Technology. They also presented on the current status of the companion animal industry and educational and research needs to livestock animal science majors.

The two institutions plan to pursue full-scale personnel and academic exchanges starting in 2026, starting with special lectures by Seoul National University faculty. This will expand educational opportunities for students to understand the companion animal and livestock industries together, broadening their career options after graduation.
