영양군은 3월 23일 해당 공모에 선정됐다고 밝히고, 2026년부터 2028년까지 3년간 총사업비 105억 원(국비 50%, 지방비 50%)을 투입해 일월면 도곡리 일원에 스마트팜 실증단지를 조성할 계획이다.
이번 사업은 단순 재배 중심을 넘어 ICT 기술을 접목한 첨단 임업 인프라 구축이 핵심이다. 단지에는 4ha 규모의 스마트하우스를 비롯해 우량 종근 생산을 위한 스마트 육묘장, 유통·가공시설 등이 들어설 예정이다.
특히 영양군은 공모 신청에 앞서 전국 최대 어수리 주산지라는 강점을 활용해 자체 예산으로 ‘3-트랙 선행 실증연구(수경재배·양액배지·다층 재배)’를 추진하며 기술적 기반을 선제적으로 확보했다. 이 같은 사전 검증을 통해 사업 타당성과 리스크 관리 능력을 입증한 점이 높은 평가로 이어진 것으로 분석된다.

영양군 관계자는 “이번 공모 선정은 철저한 사전 준비를 통해 임업의 새로운 가능성을 입증한 결과”라며 “스마트 임업 전환을 통해 ‘돈이 되는 임업’을 실현하고, 산채 산업의 대중화를 이끌어 산촌 경제 활성화의 새로운 모델을 제시하겠다”고 말했다.
