제20대 대한민국 대통령으로 윤석열 국민의힘 후보가 당선됐다.

윤 당선인의 9일 실시된 대통령선거 투표와 개표에서 48.56%를 득표해 아쉽게 2위를 기록한 더불어민주당 이재명 후보를 0.8% 차이로 따돌리고 당선됐다. 이재명 후보의 득표는 47.83%, 두 후보간 격차는 1%도 안되는 초박빙이었다.

당선인 윤곽도 경쟁이 너무 치열하다보니 당초 예정보다 3시간 여 미뤄진 3시 30분경이나 되어서야 알 수 있었다. 그 때문에 새벽까지 잠을 설쳐야 했던 국민들이 많았다.  

윤석열 당선인은 문재인 대통령의 임기가 끝나는 오는 5월 9일 다음날인 5월 10일부터 5년간 대한민국 국정을 운영해 나가게 되는데, 취임하기 전까지는 현 대통령에 버금가는 예우를 받게 된다.

굳이 하나 더 책임을 부여하자면 대한민국 국민 누구에게나 보이는 희망의 정치를 구현해야 하는 것이다. 공정과 상식, 사회적 약자에 대한 기본 의식, 비리와 각종 범죄에 대한 단호한 처벌도 어느 누구를 막론하고 공평하게 적용되어야 한다.

그밖에 우크라이나 발 위기, 코로나 19 극복 등 내외적으로 묵직한 숙제들이 그를 기다리고 있다. 어느 정도의 초고도화된 정무적 기능을 발휘할지 국민들은 기대와 우려를 가지고 지켜보고 있다.
