지난 16일 오전 11시 조 예비후보가 본리동 선거사무소에서 개소식을 개최한 가운데 지역주민 250여 명과 문희갑 전 대구시장, 김종성 전 대구예술문화단체총연합회 회장, 김해동 대한노인회 달서구지회장, 이종건 성서지역발전협의회 회장, 조철제 대한노인회 달서구지회 부설 노인대학 학장 등이 행사에 참석해 선거사무소 개소를 축하했다.
조 예비후보는 “성장이 정체된 달서의 위기와 무사안일의 달서 행정으로는 더 이상 도약할 수 없다”며, “새로운 변화와 통합의 리더쉽으로 달서구 인근 달성군·남구·서구의 경제를 견인하고 경북 남부권인 고령·성주와 경남 창녕·합천을 아우르는 150만 인구의 중심도시로 우뚝 설 수 있도록 백년대계를 세우겠다.”는 다짐을 말했다.

이어 축사에 나선 문희갑 전 대구시장은 “새 정부 출범 준비가 성공적으로 이루어지고 있는 지금 우리 대구도 발맞춰 변화의 기치를 내걸 수 있는 구청장이 필요하다.”며, “대구 달서구에 좋은 일이 있기를 바란다.”고 응원을 전했다.
