【브레이크뉴스 대구】박은정 기자= 논공읍지역사회보장협의체(공공위원장 김봉식, 민간위원장 이안아)는 학습결손이 우려되는 취약계층 청소년들에게 무료 영어 학습방 사업을 실시한다고 1일 밝혔다.
이번 사업은‘영어 e-노리터’라는 이름으로 개강하여 매주 일요일 오전, 오후 2개 반으로 나눠 반별 5명씩 무료 영어 학습을 실시하고 1, 2기로 나눠 내년 1월까지 시범사업으로 진행된다.
논공읍은 타 지역에 비해 학원, 공부방 등 교육시설이 부족한데다가 높아지는 교육비로 교육환경이 열악하다는 주민들의 목소리가 높았다.
이번 사업을 통해 지역아동센터와 학원이 휴무인 일요일을 이용해 교육공백을 해소하고 학생들의 건전한 학습습관을 체득할 수 있는 기회를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.
특히, 영어강사 출신인 관내 주민의 재능기부와 지역사회보장협의체 위원들의 자발적 봉사, 후원으로 운영되어 민·관 협력의 장으로써 의의가 크다.
이안아 위원장은“처음이라 수줍어하던 아이들이 영어를 배우면서 점점 즐겁게 시간을 보내는 모습을 보니 뿌듯하다.”며“사업을 진행하면서 훨씬 쾌적한 학습공간과 질 높은 교육환경을 제공하도록 노력하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
