계명대는 지난 17일 이필환 계명대 교무부총장과 기독교학과 교수들이 경북 안동을 찾아‘유은복지재단’화재 현장을 둘러보고 이종만 유은복지재단 이사장을 만나 화재 피해를 위로했다고 24일 전했다.

2022년 6월 이종만 목사가 설립한 유은복지재단은 경상북도 최초 장애인 직업재활시설로 장애인의 직업훈련과 고용 및 취업 확대, 장애인의 경제적 안정과 자활 자립 도모, 장애인의 사회적응 훈련 및 사회통합 촉진 등을 위해 설립되었으며, 이를 위해 새싹채소를 재배 및 판매하는 사업을 운영하고 있다.

이 가운데 지난 2월 재단에 원인불명의 화재가 발생하여 모든 시설이 전소되면서 45억 원에 이르는 재산피해를 입었고 이를 복구하는데 수십억 원의 비용이 소요될 것으로 알려지면서 계명대는 팔을 걷어붙이고 나섰다. 

계명대의 이번 화재피해 복구 성금의 재원은 계명대 교직원 1천여 명이 월급 1%를 떼어 기금을 조성하고 있는 (사)1%사랑나누기를 통해 마련되었으며 기금은 재단 복구를 위해 사용될 것으로 알려진다.
