지자체혁신평가위원회는 봉화군이 추진 중인 △K-베트남 밸리 조성사업 △봉화 양수발전소 건설사업 △임대형 스마트팜 조성사업 등 3대 핵심 전략사업을 주요 평가 요인으로 꼽았다.

특히 K-베트남 밸리 조성사업은 국내 유일의 베트남 리왕조 역사 자산을 활용해 한·베 문화와 관광, 교육을 아우르는 국제 교류 거점으로 성장할 가능성을 인정받았다. 또한 양수발전소 유치 과정에서 보여준 범군민 추진체계 구축과 지역사회 합의 도출은 주민 참여형 행정의 모범 사례로 평가됐다.

Bonghwa County Wins Grand Prize in WFPL Local Government Innovation Evaluation… Recognition of Mid- to Long-Term Strategic Achievements

Bonghwa County won the Grand Prize, the highest honor in the institutional category, in the "2nd WFPL 8 Local Government Innovation Evaluation," hosted by the Local Government Innovation Evaluation Committee (GEC) of the World Federation of Young Leaders (WFPL).

The awards ceremony was held in the main conference room of the National Assembly Members' Hall on the afternoon of January 28, 2026. Bonghwa County received the highest score in recognition of its mid- to long-term core strategies established to overcome the region's structural limitations and its practical policy implementation based on these strategies.

The Local Government Innovation Evaluation Committee identified three key strategic projects currently being pursued by Bonghwa County: the K-Vietnam Valley Development Project, the Bonghwa Pumped Storage Power Plant Construction Project, and the Rental Smart Farm Development Project as key factors in its evaluation.

In particular, the K-Vietnam Valley project, leveraging Korea's only historical asset from the Ly Dynasty, was recognized for its potential to become a hub for international exchange, encompassing Korean-Vietnamese culture, tourism, and education. Furthermore, the establishment of a county-wide initiative system and the forging of community consensus during the process of attracting the pumped-storage power plant were recognized as exemplary examples of participatory administration.

With this award, Bonghwa County has officially recognized the objective validity of its key policies, which have proactively addressed population decline and the threat of regional extinction. It is expected to further accelerate the implementation of key projects in the future.
