【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=한국수력원자력(이하 한수원)이 설 명절을 앞둔 11일 경주 성동시장과 중앙시장에서 ‘전통시장 장보기 행사’를 열고 지역경제 활성화와 이웃 나눔을 실천했다.

이번 행사에는 한수원 직원 봉사자 40여 명과 경주시 내 장애인거주시설, 장애아어린이집, 지역아동센터 등 16개 복지시설 관계자들이 참여했다. 이들은 전통시장에서 직접 장을 본 뒤 약 1,500만 원 상당의 물품을 각 복지시설에 전달했다.

한수원은 전통시장 이용을 통해 지역 소상공인을 지원하는 동시에, 복지시설 이용자들이 보다 따뜻한 명절을 보낼 수 있도록 나눔을 이어가고 있다. 2016년 시작된 경주 전통시장 장보기 행사는 이번이 90회째로, 현재까지 누적 약 7억 원 상당의 물품을 기부하며 지역사회와의 상생을 실천해왔다.

이 같은 사회공헌 활동은 경주 본사뿐 아니라 원자력·수력·양수발전소 등 사업소가 위치한 전국 각지에서도 진행되고 있다. 한수원은 올해에도 전사적으로 약 3억 원 규모의 전통시장 장보기 행사를 추진할 계획이다.

복지시설 관계자는 “명절을 앞두고 필요한 물품을 세심하게 지원해줘 큰 힘이 된다”며 “시설 이용자들도 한수원의 따뜻한 마음을 느끼며 설을 맞이할 수 있을 것 같다”고 감사의 뜻을 전했다.

전대욱 한수원 사장 직무대행은 “전통시장에서의 작은 장보기가 누군가에게는 따뜻한 명절의 시작이 되길 바라는 마음으로 행사를 마련했다”며 “앞으로도 지역과 이웃의 일상에 온기를 더하는 사회공헌 활동을 지속하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) held a "Traditional Market Shopping Event" at Seongdong Market and Jungang Market in Gyeongju on the 11th, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, to revitalize the local economy and practice sharing with neighbors.

These social contribution activities are being carried out not only at the Gyeongju headquarters but also at business sites nationwide, including nuclear, hydro, and pumped-storage power plants. This year, KHNP plans to hold a company-wide traditional market shopping event worth approximately 300 million won.

A representative from the welfare facility expressed their gratitude, saying, "Your thoughtful support of necessities ahead of the holiday is a great help. I believe facility users will also be able to welcome the Lunar New Year with a sense of KHNP's warm heart."

Acting President Jeon Dae-wook of KHNP stated, "We organized this event with the hope that a small shopping trip to a traditional market will be a warm start to the holiday season for some. We will continue our social contribution activities that bring warmth to the daily lives of our local communities and neighbors."
