【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=한국수력원자력(한수원) 김회천 사장이 취임 후 첫 해외 일정으로 지난 13일과 14일(현지시간) 체코를 방문해 두코바니 원전사업의 성공적 이행을 위한 협력 강화에 나섰다.

두코바니 원전사업은 체코 두코바니 지역에 1,000MW급 한국형 원전 APR1000 2기를 건설하는 프로젝트로, 지난해 6월 계약 체결 이후 본격 추진되고 있다.

김 사장은 현지시간 13일 체코전력공사(ČEZ) 및 발주사 EDU II 경영진과 만나 사업 성공 완수를 위한 비전과 추진 의지를 밝혔다.

이어 이반 베드나릭 체코 교통부 장관과 면담을 갖고 대형 기자재 운송을 위한 교통 인프라의 적기 구축 등 정부 차원의 지원을 요청했다.

또 체코 원자력안전위원회(SÚJB) 부위원장과의 면담에서는 인허가 절차 전반에 걸쳐 현지 법규와 기준을 철저히 준수하겠다는 의지를 전달했다.

14일에는 카렐 하블리첵 체코 산업통상부 장관 겸 제1부총리를 만나 두코바니 사업 추진 방향에 대해 의견을 나눴다. 김 사장은 사업이 계획 일정에 맞춰 안정적으로 추진될 수 있도록 총력을 다하겠다고 강조했다.

김 사장은 같은 날 두코바니 원전이 위치한 비소치나주와 인접한 남모라비아주 주지사를 만나 지역사회와의 상생 협력 방안도 논의했다. 한수원은 사업 추진 과정에서 지역 의견을 적극 반영할 방침이다.

이어 마지막 일정으로 두코바니 원전 건설현장을 찾아 건설 준비 상황을 직접 점검하고 현장 직원들을 격려했다. 이 자리에서 안전과 품질을 최우선으로 한 철저한 사업 관리를 당부했다.

지난 3월 18일 취임한 김회천 사장은 해외사업 성공 추진과 국제 경쟁력 강화를 주요 경영 방향으로 제시해 왔다.

김회천 사장은 “두코바니 원전사업은 체코의 에너지 안보와 탄소중립 실현을 위한 핵심 사업”이라며 “한수원은 사업을 충실히 이행하는 동시에 세계 원전시장의 퍼스트 무버로서 대한민국 원전의 국제 경쟁력을 강화해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

KHNP President Kim Hoe-cheon visited the Czech Republic on the 13th and 14th (local time) as his first overseas trip since taking office, aiming to strengthen cooperation for the successful implementation of the Dukovany nuclear power plant project.
