전국 단위 대회 잇단 유치…체류형 생활인구 확대

예천군은 지난해 ▲전국 남·여 양궁 종별선수권대회 ▲제53회 KBS배 전국육상경기대회 겸 코리아오픈국제육상경기대회 ▲경상북도지사기 생활체육 배구대회 ▲예천코니페디컵 전국 유소년 축구대회 ▲저수령 그란폰도 등 40여 개 대회를 개최했다. 엘리트 체육과 생활체육을 아우르는 대회 운영은 숙박·외식업 등 지역 상권에 직접적인 활력을 불어넣고 있다.

전지훈련 최적지…아시아 최고 수준 인프라

예천이 전지훈련지로 각광받는 배경에는 집적화된 전문 체육시설이 있다. 사계절 기상 영향을 최소화한 육상실내훈련장과 스타디움, 경사로 및 모래사장 훈련장 등이 한곳에 모여 있어 선수들이 훈련에만 집중할 수 있는 환경을 갖췄다.

여기에 대한육상연맹 육상교육훈련센터가 가동되면서 연령별 대표선수 육성과 지도자·심판 교육까지 아우르는 종합 거점 기능을 수행하고 있다.

양궁 종목 역시 강세다. 진호국제양궁장은 시설 개보수를 통해 안정성을 높였고, 국가대표 선발전과 국제대회 개최 경험을 바탕으로 전지훈련 수요를 꾸준히 끌어들이고 있다. 양궁 종목 방문 인원만 연간 3만5천여 명, 육상을 포함한 전체 방문객은 15만 명을 넘어서는 것으로 집계된다.

이와 함께 한천파크골프장 확장, 읍면 게이트볼장 정비, 신도시 소규모 체육관 건립, 축구장 조성 등 생활체육 인프라도 확충하고 있다. 노후 체육시설 정비 역시 병행 추진 중이다.

오는 4월 3일부터 나흘간 안동과 예천에서 열리는 제64회 경북도민체육대회에는 도내 22개 시·군, 30개 종목, 3만여 명의 선수단과 임원이 참가한다. 군은 전담 TF팀을 구성해 시설 정비와 조직 운영 전반을 체계적으로 준비하고 있다.

예천군 관계자는 “대회는 끝나도 그 기록과 경험은 지역 스포츠의 자산으로 남는다”며 “선수들이 다시 찾는 도시, 군민이 체감하는 전국 제1의 스포츠도시를 만들겠다”고 밝혔다.

Furthermore, the Korea Association of Athletics Federations' Track and Field Education and Training Center is now in operation, serving as a comprehensive hub for training national athletes by age group, as well as coach and referee training.

Expanding the Infrastructure for Sports for All... Accelerating Preparations for the Provincial Sports Festival

Yecheon County is pursuing the construction of a multi-purpose archery training center, slated for completion in 2028. This first-of-its-kind facility, including an indoor training facility and a dedicated compound training facility, is expected to become a world-class specialized training site upon completion.

Furthermore, the county is expanding its recreational sports infrastructure, including the expansion of Hancheon Park Golf Course, the renovation of gateball fields in towns and villages, the construction of small gymnasiums in new towns, and the construction of soccer fields. Renovation of aging sports facilities is also underway.

The 64th Gyeongbuk Provincial Sports Festival, to be held in Andong and Yecheon for four days starting April 3rd, will involve approximately 30,000 athletes and officials from 22 cities and counties across the province, 30 sports, and the establishment of a dedicated task force to systematically prepare for facility maintenance and overall organizational operations.
