군에 따르면 이번 평가는‘세계적인 숲의 도시(GREEN CITY)’를 만들겠다는 대구시 녹지정책의 활성화를 위해 8개 구․군의 푸른 대구 가꾸기 사업과 조경지 및 가로수 관리, 가로환경 개선사업, 옥상녹화사업 등 도시녹화사업 전반에 걸쳐 평가가 진행됐다.
달성군은 다사 세천리 테마정원 조성, 논공 꽃단지 조성 등 아름다운 도시경관 연출 및 미세먼지 차단숲, 자녀안심 그린숲, 스마트가든 등 전 분야에서 고른 평가를 받았다.
또 기존의 관 주도 사업방식을 탈피해 주민들이 마을의 경관과 환경 개선에 직접 참여하는 한평정원 가꾸기, 꽃피는 마을 조성 등 주민 참여형 사업도 적극 추진하여 우수한 평가를 얻었다.
특히 매년 100여 곳이 조성되는 학교숲을 대상으로 산림청이 주관하는‘2022년 학교숲 우수사례’공모에서도 논공읍 북동초등학교가 전국 최우수 사례로 선정되어 7일 산림청‘도시숲 정책 워크숍’에서 수상하는 등 달성군의 녹지정책 전반이 좋은 결실로 이어졌다.
최재훈 달성군수는“이번 수상을 계기로 푸른 달성, 꽃피는 달성, 주민과 함께하는 녹지 공간 창출 등 달성군만의 특색 있고 아름다운 녹지 공간 조성에 최선을 다하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
