이번 평가는 대구시 8개 구·군을 대상으로 공중ㆍ식품위생업소 등의 위생 안전관리를 통한 안전한 외식환경 조성과 음식문화 개선 사업의 선제적 추진을 위해 5개 분야, 16개 항목, 38개 지표로 나누어 진행됐다.
주요 평가내용은 위생행정 인프라 확보, 공중위생ㆍ식품위생업소 등 관리 , 식중독 예방관리, 음식문화개선 사업, 전시ㆍ박람회 참여도, 특수시책 등을 평가했다.
달서구는 공중위생, 식품위생, 음악․게임 업소의 체계적 위생관리, 위생행정 인프라 확보, 어린이기호식품 안전관리 및 공모사업 참여 등의 노력을 인정받아 최우수 기관으로 선정됐다.
특히 달서 음식문화거리 활성화 사업의 추진으로 외식업소 경쟁력 강화와 지역경제 활성화 기여로 높은 평가를 받은 것으로 알려진다.
이태훈 달서구청장은 "안전한 위생환경과 다양한 음식문화에 대한 사회적 요구 증가에 따라 앞으로도 지속 가능한 위생안전관리 시스템 구축과 음식문화 정책을 적극 발굴해 선도적인 위생행정을 추진해 나가겠다."고 밝혔다.
