지난 13일 경산캠퍼스 성산홀(본관) 2층 접견실에서 정재우 교수의 우수 학생 육성 및 학과 경쟁력 강화를 위한 대학 발전기금 1,000만 원 전달식이 진행되었다.

장학기금을 기탁한 정재우 교수는 한양대에서 자동차공학 박사 학위 취득 후 8년간 현대모비스 책임연구원으로 근무하다 지난 2021년 대구대 교수로 임용됐다.

정재우 교수는 현대차가 개발한 전기자동차 ‘코나’ ESC 통합형 전동부스터 구동모터 개발, ‘아이오닉5’ 구동모터의 요소기술 개발 등의 프로젝트를 수행하는 등 전기차 관련 연구개발 프로젝트를 수행했고 대구대 교수 임용 후에는 교내 연구과제는 물론 한국자동차연구원, 한국연구재단, 산업기술평가원에서 수주한 전기자동차 구동모터 관련 정부 과제를 수행하고 있다.

아울러 국내 대기업을 비롯해 지역 중소·중견기업과의 산학협력 연구과제를 통해 제자 육성에 힘쓰고 있는 정재우 교수는 “대구대 전기공학전공 학생들이 전기차 등 미래 유망 산업을 이끌어 갈 인재로 성장할 수 있도록 학생 교육과 연구에 더욱 매진하겠다.”며 1000만원의 장학금을 기탁했다.

대구대는 교직원 매칭펀드 장학기금 1,000만원 더해 총 2,000만원 장학기금 조성해 전기공학전공 및 학생을 위해 사용할 예정이다.
