대구시는 18일 양준혁 야구재단 이사장이 고향사랑 기부금 500만원을 기부했다고 밝혔다.
고향사랑기부제는 개인이 태어난 지역은 물론 학업·근무·여행 등을 통해 관계를 맺은 ‘제2의 고향’ 등에 기부하면, 지자체는 기부금을 주민복리증진 등에 사용하고, 기부자에게는 세액공제와 답례품 혜택이 주어지는 제도이다.
양준혁 이사장은 지난 2011년부터 현재까지 대구시 홍보대사로 활동하고 있으며, 평소 누구보다도 대구시 발전에 관심을 가지고 대구 관련 행사에 적극적으로 참여해왔다.
양 이사장은 기부로 받게 될 150만 원 상당의 답례품을 향후 다문화가정과 저소득층 가정의 야구 꿈나무들로 구성될 멘토리 야구단 운영에 사용할 계획이다.
양 이사장은 “항상 내 고향 대구를 생각하고, 대구가 좀 더 잘 되었으면 좋겠다고 생각했는데, 고향사랑기부제를 통해 조금이나마 마음을 표현할 수 있어서 너무 기쁘다”며 “기부금이 지역의 청소년과 취약계층 지원 등 필요한 분야에 뜻깊게 사용됐으면 한다”고 밝혔다.
