이날 방문에는 환경부 수자원정책관, 자원순환국장, 대구지방환경청장, 낙동강 홍수통제소장, 한국수자원공사 낙동강유역 본부장과 안동 지사장, 경북도청 환경산림자원국장, 경북그린에너지센터, GS건설 환경사업부도 함께 했다고 거듭 밝혔다.

한 장관은 안동댐 취수탑과 여수로를 찾아 저수현황과 용수 수급상황, 대응현황을 보고받고 철저한 가뭄 대응으로 국민피해를 최소화해달라고 당부했다. 이어, 최근 화재가 발생한 안동맑은누리파크에 방문해 소각장 가동 중지에 따른 폐기물 처리 현황을 확인하고 소각장 화재에 따른 신속한 복구를 독려한 것으로 알려졌다.

안동시에 따르면 현재 안동댐 수위는 142m를 유지하고 있는 것으로 알려졌다. 이는 ‘약한 가뭄’단계로, 안동시는 댐 저수율, 농·공·생활용수 수급상황을 수시로 체크하는 한편, 위기 상황 시 신속 대응할 수 있도록 연관 기관과 공조 체계를 유지하고 있다고 밝혔다.

권기창 시장과 김형동 국회의원은 이날 한 장관에 환경영향평가의 조속한 마무리를 요청했다

안동시 관계자는 “특히 올해는 143억여 원의 사업비를 투입해 농업용수 공급 확대에 나서고, 용·배수로, 양수장, 암반관정, 저수지 등의 수리시설 33개소를 정비하는 한편, 안동호 상류부에 위치해 농업용수 취수가 불가한 와룡 산야리 상사골 지구 일원에 추진 중인 안동 북부지구 다목적 농촌용수개발사업 확장과 소규모 용수개발사업으로 추가적인 급수도 추진하고 있다”고 강조했다. 

한편, 권기창 안동시장과 김형동 국회의원은 한 장관에 자연환경보전지역 변경을 위한 환경영향평가의 조속한 마무리를 요청했다.  

김형동 의원은 "안동은 지난 수십 년간 댐 건설로 인한 도시발전 저해 및 주민 희생을 감수해왔다"며 "수몰민은 물론 안동 주민의 권리 회복을 위해 안동댐 자연환경보전지역 용도지구 변경을 위한 환경영향평가를 3월 내에 마무리해 달라"고 강조했다.

권기창 안동시장은 “안동시 면적의 15.2%가 넘는 231.192k㎡에 달하는 과도한 자연환경보전지역 지정으로 안동시 발전의 맥이 끊겨 있다”라며 “주민들의 피해를 최소화하고 관광 등 도시 발전을 위한 상생의 길을 터주길 바란다”라고 전했다.
