【브레이크뉴스 대구 】이성현 기자= 6.3 대선에 국민의힘 후보로 출마한 이철우 경북도지사는 14일 “나는 신무기다. 이미 평가를 받은 사람들과는 다르다”며 자신의 경쟁력을 ‘새로움’에 비유했다.

대구아트파크에서 개최된 아시아포럼 21 릴레이정책 토론회에 참석한 이 지사는  이날 "다른 경쟁 후보들을 평가해 달라는 요청에 대하여 우리 당 후보들을 평가하는 것은 될 수 있으면 삼가는 게 좋겠다”면서도 “다만 다른 후보들 가운데는 몇 번 실패하면서 국민들로부터 평가를 마친 분들”이라고 했다. 

오세훈 , 유승민 전 의원이 경선 불참을 선언하면서 중도층 공략에 빨간불이 켜진 상황과 관련, 중도층 흡수 방안에 대하여도 물었더니 그는 “자석이 힘이 세면 모두 끌려오기 마련”이라 말하고 “내가 어떤 나라를 만들고 하겠다는 의지와 분명한 비전을 제시하고 그것을 국민이 인정하면 유승민, 오세훈 지지표가 모두 올 것”이라고 자신했다.

도지사직을 유지하고 출마하는 이유에 대하여는 “개인으로만 보자면 직을 던지고 출마하는 것이 결기도 보여드리고 진정성 있어 보이겠지만, 1년 넘는 행정공백을 만들어 놓는 것은 국민에 대한 예의가 아니라고 생각한다”고 설명했다. 이 지사의 이 발언에 지역정가 일각에서는 이날 “행정공백 때문에 직을 유지한체 출마한 것이라면 이는 애초부터 돌아갈 생각을 하고 출마한 것이나 다름없는 것 같다” 며 “돌아갈 생각 때문에 출마 이유에 대한 진정성이 논란이 되는 것”이라고 수군거렸다. 

윤심을 팔아 대통령을 하려는 것이 아니냐는 의혹에 대하여 그는 총리직 제안 내막 등을 설명하며 “윤심 팔아 대통령 하려했다면 대통령 안 하는 게 나을 것”이라고 일축했다. 

그는 “지금의 정치권 분위기로는 국민들의 피해가 너무 심하다. 도덕적으로나 청렴함에 있어서나 깨끗한 새로운 지도자가 나와야 한다. 나는 이재묭 더불어민주당 후보에 비해 매우 깨끗하고 청렴하다. 여기에 국제적 감각과 지방 발전에 대한 철학도 강점으로 가지고 있다”고 주장했다.

당내서 일고 있는 한덕수 추대론에 대하여는 부정적인 입장을 취했다. 일단 “대통령 권한대행 이 우리 경선에 들어오는 것은 좋은 일이다. 그렇다고 추대한다는 데는 반대다. 이는 당의 자존심 문제다. 우리 후보가 현저하게 타 정당 후보에 뒤쳐진다면 그 때가서는 추대를 고려해도 되겠지만, 지금부터 이야기하는 것은 신중하게 검토해야 한다”고 거듭 강조했다.

한편 이 지사는 “AI, 디지털, 에너지, 한류, 민생 중심의 5대 대전환을 실시해 국민소득 10만 불 시대를 여는 국가 대개조에 나서겠다“고 주장했다.
