【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도는 지난 19일 한국화재보험협회와 함께 도내 전통시장의 화재 예방과 안전관리 강화를 위한 업무협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이번 협약은 화재와 각종 재난에 취약한 전통시장을 대상으로 전문 기관이 참여하는 체계적인 안전진단을 도입해 위험 요소를 사전에 제거하고, 도민과 상인이 안심할 수 있는 시장 환경을 조성하기 위해 전국 지방자치단체 가운데 최초로 추진됐다.
한국화재보험협회는 중소벤처기업부와 함께 전통시장을 대상으로 3년 주기의 소방·건축·가스·전기 분야 종합 안전진단을 수행하고 있는 기관으로, 50년 이상의 화재 예방 및 안전진단 경험을 보유한 안전 점검·위험관리 전문기관이다.
경북도는 이번 협약을 계기로 도내 주요 전통시장을 대상으로 매년 전문 안전진단을 실시해 안전 사각지대를 해소하고, 예방 중심의 안전관리 체계를 현장에 정착시킨다는 방침이다. 특히 전문기관이 참여하는 상시 종합 안전진단 체계가 구축되면 전통시장 화재 위험 저감과 사고 예방의 실효성이 크게 높아질 것으로 기대하고 있다.
협약의 주요 내용은 △전통시장 및 상점가의 화재 예방, 소방시설, 자연재해 대응, 안전관리체계 전반에 대한 안전진단 △안전진단 결과를 반영한 위험요인별 사전 예방 대책 수립 △관련 자료 조사·연구 및 신기술 정보 공유 △기타 전통시장 안전 강화를 위해 상호 협력이 필요한 사항 등이다.
한편 경북도는 지난 15일부터 대구경북지방중소벤처기업청, 소상공인시장진흥공단, 한국화재보험협회와 함께 소방안전등급 D·E등급 전통시장을 대상으로 합동점검을 실시하고 있다. 또 오는 26일부터는 10일간 도내 주요 전통시장 50여 곳을 대상으로 시군 자체 점검을 병행해 설 명절을 앞두고 선제적인 화재 예방과 안전관리 강화에 나설 계획이다.
이재훈 경상북도 경제통상국장은 “전통시장은 도민 생활과 지역경제의 중심인 만큼 무엇보다 안전이 최우선”이라며 “전국 최초로 전문기관과 협력하는 이번 협약을 통해 경북 전통시장의 잠재적 위험 요소를 선제적으로 점검하고, 상인과 이용객 모두가 안심할 수 있는 시장 환경을 만들어 가겠다”고 말했다.

Meanwhile, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province has been conducting joint inspections of traditional markets with fire safety ratings of D and E since the 15th, in collaboration with the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional SMEs and Startups Agency, the Small Enterprise and Market Promotion Agency, and the Korea Fire Insurance Association. Furthermore, starting on the 26th, the province plans to conduct 10-day, self-inspections of approximately 50 major traditional markets across the province to proactively strengthen fire prevention and safety management ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
