경북도에 따르면 수도권 집중과 고령화 영향으로 도내 인구는 감소세가 지속돼 지난해에는 매월 평균 약 2천 명, 최근 3년간 연평균 약 3만 명이 줄어든 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 국가통계포털(KOSIS) 자료를 기반으로 한 2025년 잠정 통계에서 경북의 합계출산율은 0.93명, 조출생률은 4.2명으로 집계되며 모두 2년 연속 증가했다.

경북의 합계출산율은 2023년 0.86명에서 2024년 0.90명, 2025년 0.93명으로 꾸준히 상승했으며, 이는 전국 평균 0.80명보다 0.13명 높은 수준이다. 조출생률 역시 같은 기간 4.0명에서 4.2명으로 증가했다.

경북도는 “2030년 합계출산율 1.2명 달성”을 목표로 3년째 저출생 대응 정책을 추진하고 있다. 2023년 역대 최저치 이후 반등세를 보인 것은 저출생 문제를 생존 과제로 인식하고 정책을 현장에 신속히 적용한 결과로 보고 있다.

황명석 경상북도지사 권한대행은 “제2차 베이비붐 세대의 자녀인 에코붐 세대가 결혼과 출산의 중요한 시기에 접어든 만큼, 만남·결혼·출산 등 생애주기별 맞춤형 지원 정책을 추진하겠다”고 밝혔다.

이어 “인공지능(AI) 기반 통계 분석을 활용해 관광, 일자리, 주거 등 다양한 분야에서 인구 감소 대응 정책을 정교하게 추진해 나가겠다”고 덧붙였다
