경북도는 2026년 총사업비 173억 원을 투입해 사업을 도내 22개 전 시군 97개소로 확대 지정하고, 연간 20만 명 이상의 돌봄 수요를 충족해 양육 부담을 실질적으로 완화할 계획이다.

‘K보듬 6000’은 연중 365일 운영되는 틈새·연장 돌봄 체계로, 평일 오전 7시 30분부터 자정까지, 주말 및 공휴일은 오전 9시부터 오후 6시까지 영유아와 초등학생을 대상으로 무상 돌봄 서비스를 제공한다.

경북도는 저출생 대응 정책의 일환으로 어린이집과 다함께돌봄센터, 지역아동센터, 공동육아나눔터 등 기존 돌봄 인프라를 활용해 정규 운영시간 외 돌봄 서비스를 제공하고 있다.

특히 전국 최초로 생후 60일부터 12개월 미만 영아를 위한 ‘0세 특화반’을 운영하고, 민간 참여를 연계한 시군 공모 방식으로 사업을 단계적으로 확대하는 등 차별화된 돌봄 모델을 구축하고 있다. 또한 어린이집 유휴공간을 활용한 ‘초등 방학 돌봄터’를 통해 방학 기간 돌봄 수요에도 대응하고 있다.

사업 도입 첫해인 2024년에는 7개 시군 53개소에서 2만 2,700명이 이용했으며, 2025년에는 12개 시군 71개소에서 17만 7,271명이 이용하는 등 이용 수요가 급증하고 있다.

이용 신청은 ‘K보듬 6000’ 통합 예약 홈페이지를 통해 거주지 제한 없이 무료로 가능하며, 매월 25일 오전 10시부터 선착순으로 접수한다. 수집된 이용 데이터는 향후 시설 배치와 예산 배분을 위한 기초 자료로 활용된다.

경북도는 전 시군 확대와 함께 사업의 질적 고도화도 추진하고 있다. 현재 관련 연구용역을 진행 중이며, 이를 통해 돌봄 효과를 객관적으로 검증하고 표준 운영체계를 마련해 중장기 발전 로드맵을 수립할 방침이다.

아울러 ‘K보듬 6000’ 운영 성과는 국가 정책에도 반영되고 있다. 경북도의 야간·주말 연장 돌봄 운영 사례는 성평등가족부의 공동육아나눔터 연장 운영 사업 도입에 활용되는 등 정책 확산을 이끌고 있다.

이치헌 경상북도 저출생극복본부장은 “17만 명 이상의 이용 실적은 ‘K보듬 6000’이 도민의 실질적인 돌봄 문제 해결에 기여하고 있음을 보여준다”며 “앞으로도 운영 데이터와 연구 결과를 기반으로 온종일 돌봄체계를 지속 확대해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
