경북도는 오는 3월 28일 오전 9시부터 ‘전국 산불재난 위기대응 경상북도 재난안전대책본부’를 운영한다고 밝혔다. 이는 최근 건조한 날씨와 기온 상승으로 산불 발생 위험이 높아진 데 따른 조치다.

앞서 산림청은 3월 26일 오후 3시를 기해 산불재난 국가위기경보를 ‘주의’에서 ‘경계’ 단계로 상향했다. 최근 1주일(3월 19일~25일) 동안 전국에서 36건의 산불이 발생하는 등 위험도가 급격히 높아진 상황이다.

이에 경북도는 산불 발생 이전 단계부터 예방과 대응 체계를 강화하기 위해 재난안전대책본부를 조기 운영하기로 했다. 통상 재난 발생 이후 대응과 복구를 위해 가동되는 것과 달리, 사전 예방 중심으로 재대본을 운영하는 것은 이례적이라는 평가다.

해당 실무반은 영농 부산물 및 생활 쓰레기 불법 소각, 산림 인접지 소각 행위, 주택 화재 예방 활동 등을 중점적으로 관리하고 계도하는 역할을 맡는다. 경북도는 가두방송과 홍보활동 등 가능한 모든 수단을 동원해 산불 예방에 총력을 기울일 방침이다.

아울러 민방위 사이렌을 활용한 산불 예방 홍보와 주민 대피 계획을 수립하고, 도와 시·군 간 실시간 소통체계를 구축해 대응 속도를 높였다. 기상정보와 산불 위험지수도 매일 공유하며, 산불 발생 시 즉각적인 상황 전파로 인명 피해 최소화에 집중하고 있다.

김종수 경북도 안전행정실장은 “선제적 대응을 통해 이번 산불대책 기간 동안 인명 피해가 발생하지 않도록 최선을 다하겠다”며 “도민들도 쓰레기 및 영농 부산물 소각을 자제하고, 입산 시 화기 소지를 금지하는 등 산불 예방에 적극 동참해 달라”고 당부했다.
