25일 대구시는 2023년까지 국‧시비 등 총 965억원 투입해 스마트시티로 만들겠다고 밝히며 전국 최초 250개 교차로 인공지능기반 스마트교차로 구축, 교통·환경·도시시설물 데이터수집용 사물인터넷망 250개소 구축, 상가 중심 시민참여 공유와이파이 구역 50개 구축 등을 예고했다.

대구시는 동‧서축으로 산단 등 출‧퇴근자가 많은 도시구조로 인해 혼잡구간이 많고, 출퇴근 소요시간이 특‧광역시 중 많은 것으로 손꼽힌다.

이러한 도심 교통문제 해결을 위해 대구시는 2023년까지 도심 4차 순환선 내 250여 개 교차로에 단계적으로 지능형 CCTV를 설치하고 데이터를 수집하며 인공지능을 이용한 교통정보를 분석을 통해 신호등 신호 주기 최적화를 목표로 하고 있다.

특히 이 사업은 전국 최초로 도심 내에 대규모로 적용되는 사례로도 의미가 크며, 대구 자체가 스마트시티 혁신 성장 플랫폼이 되도록 제공되고 차량 소통과 보행자 안전 확보를 성공적으로 추진하기 위해 교통전문가 자문회의와 이해 관계자를 포함하는 세미나를 지속 추진할 예정이다. 

또한 대구시는 추진 중인 대구 원(One) 네트워크를 통해 도시에서 생성되는 각종 정보를 수집·저장·가공·분석해 도시가 필요로 하는 정책이나 의사결정을 지원하게 된다.

이와 함께 도시기반 시설의 디지털 전환과 연결을 통해 통신비용 절감뿐만 아니라 공공서비스를 제공하고 기업이 비즈니스 모델을 창출하는 대구 스마트시티를 추진해 나갈 계획이며 이를 위해 기존에 보유하고 있는 자가광통신망을 활용해 2023년까지 사물인터넷(IoT) 서비스망을 대구 전역에 구축하고, 공유와이파이와 함께 삼중촘촘망을 완성할 예정이다.

또한 올해 하반기 건립되는 스마트비즈니스센터는 데이터 허브를 구축하고 산재해 있는 데이터를 모아 융복합 분석하여 도시정책 의사결정을 가능케 하고 최적의 시민서비스 제공과 기업 비즈니스를 창출해 낼 예정이다.

대구시는 지금까지 알파시티 조성으로 국책사업 유치의 계기를 마련했으며 다양한 성과를 내며 국내 스마트시티 대표도시로 자리매김하고 있다.

올해는 대구 스마트시티의 글로벌 입지를 확고히 하기 위해 국내 최초로 UN 산하기관 ITU 스마트시티 표준, 스마트시티 국제표준 인증(ISO 37120)과 함께 2021 스마트시티 아시아‧태평양 어워드 도전과 스마트시티 글로벌 100위 진입 등을 추진해 나갈 예정이다.
