대구광역시의회 예산결산특별위원회(위원장 김지만)가 2022년도 대구광역시 교육비특별회계 예산안의 일부 사업을 총 86억원을 감액하여 수정가결했다.

대구시의회 예결위는 지난 9일 2022년도 대구광역시 교육비특별회계 총 3조 7,229억원의 예산안을 확정했다.

이번 예산은 위드코로나 시대 교육력 회복과 학부모교육비 부담 경감에 중점을 둔 것으로 예결위는 심사 과정에서 심도 있는 고민과 검토를 한 것으로 알려진다.

이에 따라 총 재정규모는 전년대비 3,735억원, 11.2%이 증액된 3조 7,232억원으로  주로 정부의 내국세 확대에 따른 보통교부금 등의 증가에 의한 것이다.

코로나19의 장기화에 따른 학생들의 교육력 저하를 조기에 회복하고 학부모교육비 부담을 경감하기 위한 대구시교육청의 예산 편성취지에 공감한다고 밝힌 대구시의회 예결위는 이번 예산에 대해 신속하고 엄중하게 심사를 거쳤다고 전했다.

다만, 이번 예산안이 전체 예산규모의 신장률에 비해 교육복지부문의 예산신장률이 낮음을 지적하며 취약계층 학생들에 대한 빈틈없는 복지지원을 촉구하였다.

또한 매년 시설사업 예산이 과도하게 이월이나 불용이 발생하는 만큼 시설사업비를 전반적으로 조정하였고, 코로나19가 급격하게 재확산되고 있는 만큼 학생들의 안전에 지장이 없도록 철저한 학교방역을 요청했다.

대구광역시의회 예산결산특별위원회 김지만 위원장(기행위, 북구2)은 “최근 오미크론 변이 바이러스의 확산으로 코로나19 다시 기승을 부리면서 학교와 학생, 학부모의 우려도 함께 커지고 있는 상황이다”라며 “ ‘안전한 학교 만들기’와 ‘교육의 일상회복’을 위해 다시 한 번 최선을 다해 주시기를 바란다.”는 당부를 전했다.
