시에 따르면 이날 회의에서는 중국의 저가 철강 제품 공습과 내수 경기 위축 등으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 철강산업과 글로벌캐즘 영향으로 타격이 커진 이차전지 산업의 위기 상황을 공유하며 해결 방안을 모색하기 위한 다양한 의견을 나눴다.

이강덕 시장은 철강과 이차전지 등 지역의 주력산업이 위기에서 벗어나지 못하면 지역의 미래도 흔들릴 수 있는 절체절명의 위기 상황이라 강조하며, 포항의 미래를 책임진다는 사명감을 갖고 위기를 슬기롭게 극복하기 위해 모든 역량을 총동원할 것을 주문했다.

또한 대내외 불확실성이 확대되고 있는 가운데 올 한 해는 경제와 민생 지키기에 총력을 다해야 한다며, ▲예산 신속 집행 ▲취약계층 보호 ▲지역업체 발주 확대 ▲골목상권 활성화 등에 매진해 줄 것을 당부했다.

특히 다가오는 설 연휴 임시 공휴일 지정으로 휴일이 길어진 데에 따른 지역 경제 활성화를 견인할 수 있도록 관광상품 연계, 주요 관광지 홍보 강화, 이벤트 마련 등 관광객 유입을 극대화할 수 있는 방안을 모색해 줄 것을 주문했다.

아울러 최근 인플루엔자 환자 발생이 급증하고 있는 것에 대한 우려를 표하며, 감염고위험군의 건강 보호를 위해 미접종자에 대한 조속한 예방접종 독려와 마스크 착용을 적극 홍보할 것을 당부했다.

이밖에도 새해 첫 확대간부회의에서는 국별 올해 핵심사업 추진계획을 공유했으며, 지속가능한 환동해중심도시로의 도약을 위한 도시 기반을 마련하고 새로운 성장 동력을 확보하기 위한 첨단지식산업의 저변 확대에 행정력을 집중키로 했다.

이날 회의에 함께 참석한 전익현 철강관리공단 이사장은 “지역 위기 산업을 극복하기 위해 모두 힘 모아 노력한다면 반드시 극복하고, 더욱 발전할 수 있을 것”이라며 첫 확대간부회의를 현장에서 개최해 준 것에 대해 감사의 말을 전했다.
