【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항시는 지난 24일 시청 대회의실에서 ‘제3기 포항시 청년정책조정위원회’ 첫 간담회를 열고 청년이 중심이 되는 청년친화도시 조성을 위한 본격적인 행보에 나섰다.

이번 간담회는 새롭게 출범한 위원회의 운영 방향을 공유하고, ‘2030 포항시 청년친화도시 조성 기본계획’에 따른 2026년 실행 전략에 청년 의견을 반영하기 위해 마련됐다.

이날 행사는 장상길 포항시장 권한대행 주재로 위원 및 자문위원 등 35명이 참석한 가운데 ▲위촉장 전달 ▲위원회 구성 및 운영계획 보고 ▲청년친화도시 조성 기본계획 공유 ▲포항청춘센터&청년창업플랫폼 운영 보고 ▲위원회 활성화 방안 논의 순으로 진행됐다.

제3기 위원회는 ‘포항시 청년 기본 조례’에 따라 당연직 2명과 시의원, 대학생, 사회초년생, 청년 창업가 등 다양한 분야의 위촉직 위원 18명을 포함한 총 20명으로 구성됐으며, 향후 2년간 청년 정책의 심의·조정과 분석·평가를 수행하는 정책 컨트롤타워 역할을 맡는다.

특히 외부 전문가 중심의 청년정책자문단을 신설해 정책의 전문성과 실행력을 강화하고, ▲워밍업(취·창업) ▲치얼업(주거·결혼) ▲빌드업(경력개발) 등 3개 분과를 중심으로 청년 생애주기별 맞춤형 정책 발굴에 나설 계획이다. 또한 선진사례 벤치마킹을 통해 포항형 청년정책 모델 구축도 추진한다.

이날 간담회에서는 ‘Youth Main City, Pohang(청년이 중심이 되어 혁신과 지역을 잇다)’ 비전을 공유하고, 향후 정책 추진 방향에 대한 공감대를 형성했다. 시는 앞으로 실행계획 수립 과정에 위원회 의견을 적극 반영하고, 지역 5개 대학 총학생회장으로 구성된 대학연합(POP)과 연계해 현장 중심 의견 수렴과 정책 홍보를 강화할 방침이다.

장상길 포항시장 권한대행은 “청년 정책은 당사자인 청년의 목소리가 반영될 때 실효성을 갖는다”며 “위원회가 청년과 시를 잇는 가교 역할을 수행해 청년친화도시 포항 조성에 기여해 주길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 포항시는 지난해 청년친화헌정대상 종합대상을 수상한 데 이어, 올해 국무조정실이 주관하는 ‘청년친화도시’ 최종 지정을 목표로 행정 역량을 집중하고 있다.

The proceedings included the presentation of letters of appointment, a report on the committee's composition and operational plan, a sharing of the master plan for creating a youth-friendly city, a report on the operation of the Pohang Youth Center & Youth Startup Platform, and a discussion on measures to revitalize the committee. The 3rd Committee is composed of a total of 20 members, including two ex officio members in accordance with the ‘Pohang City Youth Basic Ordinance’ and 18 appointed members from diverse fields such as city councilors, university students, new graduates, and youth entrepreneurs. For the next two years, it will serve as a policy control tower responsible for deliberating, coordinating, analyzing, and evaluating youth policies.

In particular, the committee plans to strengthen policy expertise and implementation capabilities by establishing a Youth Policy Advisory Group composed of external experts. It will also focus on discovering customized policies tailored to each stage of a youth's life cycle, centering on three subcommittees: Warming Up (Employment/Startup), Cheer Up (Housing/Marriage), and Build Up (Career Development). Furthermore, it will pursue the establishment of a Pohang-style youth policy model through benchmarking best practices.

During the meeting, the vision of ‘Youth Main City, Pohang (Youth at the Center Connecting Innovation and the Region)’ was shared, and a consensus was formed regarding the future direction of policy implementation. The city plans to actively reflect the committee's opinions in the process of establishing future implementation plans and strengthen field-oriented opinion gathering and policy promotion in conjunction with the University Alliance (POP), composed of student council presidents from five local universities.

Jang Sang-gil, Acting Mayor of Pohang, stated, "Youth policies gain effectiveness only when the voices of the youth themselves, who are the stakeholders, are reflected," adding, "I look forward to the committee acting as a bridge connecting the youth with the city to contribute to creating a youth-friendly city of Pohang."

Meanwhile, following its win of the Grand Prize at the Youth-Friendly Constitutional Awards last year, Pohang City is concentrating its administrative capabilities on the goal of being finally designated as a "Youth-Friendly City" this year by the Office for Government Policy Coordination.
