이번 사업은 조부모가 직접 손자녀 돌봄에 참여하는 노인일자리 선도모델로, 초저출산 시대에 가정 내 돌봄 공백을 해소하고 세대 간 돌봄 기능을 강화하기 위해 마련됐다.

사업 대상은 포항시에 거주하는 60세 이상 시민 가운데 맞벌이 또는 다자녀 가정 등으로 양육 공백이 발생한 가정의 조부모 및 외조부모다. 시는 오는 20일부터 24일까지 5일간 총 40명을 선발할 계획이다.

선정된 참여자는 약 5개월간 손자녀의 등·하원 지원을 비롯해 보육·교육 보조, 놀이 활동 등 전반적인 돌봄 서비스를 수행하게 된다.

참여를 희망하는 조부모와 대상 가정은 포항시니어클럽을 방문해 신청할 수 있으며, 소득 수준과 돌봄 필요성, 참여자의 활동 역량 등을 종합적으로 평가해 최종 선발한다.

이은주 포항시 노인장애인복지과장은 “조부모 돌봄은 가정의 양육 부담을 경감하는 동시에 어르신의 사회참여 기회를 넓히는 효과가 있다”며 “앞으로도 아이 키우기 좋은 환경 조성과 노인일자리 확대를 위해 다양한 정책을 지속적으로 추진하겠다”고 밝혔다.
