이날 본회의에 앞서 진행된 5분 자유발언에서는 지역 현안과 제도 개선을 둘러싼 다양한 의견이 제기됐다.

먼저 김영헌 의원은 지방소멸 위기 속에서 장기면 두원리 일대에 추진 중인 코스타밸리 조성사업이 일자리 창출과 인구 유입, 지역경제 활성화를 이끌 핵심 사업이라며, 행정의 체계적 지원과 주민과의 지속적인 소통을 통한 사업의 조속한 추진을 촉구했다.

이다영 의원은 사회초년생의 소액 횡령 사건을 언급하며, 청년 인구 감소 상황에서 첫 직장 경험이 지역 이탈로 이어지지 않도록 노동 교육과 상담 체계 강화를 주문했다. 특히 포항청소년재단과 청년센터를 활용한 지원 확대 필요성을 강조했다.

김성조 의원은 제9대 시의회 운영 과정에서 협치 부족과 소통 단절을 지적하며, 기초의원 정당공천제 폐지와 함께 포스코홀딩스의 지역 상생 책임 강화를 촉구했다.

이어 본회의에서는 ▲체육진흥기금 조성·운용 조례 일부개정안 ▲해수욕장 관리 및 운영 조례 일부개정안 ▲아동·청소년 건강증진 조례안 ▲저소득주민 주거안정자금 관련 조례 개정안 등 총 17건의 안건이 처리됐다.

김일만 의장은 폐회사를 통해 “대외 여건이 어려울수록 지역이 단단히 결집해 돌파구를 마련해야 한다”며 “집행기관은 의결된 정책이 현장에서 신속히 집행될 수 있도록 노력해 달라”고 당부했다.

한편 포항시의회는 오는 6월 16일부터 19일까지 4일간 제330회 임시회를 열고 추가 안건을 심의할 예정이다.
