【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항시가 무주택 청년들의 주거비 부담 완화를 위해 ‘청년 월세 지원사업’ 신규 신청을 받는다.

이번 사업은 일정 요건을 충족한 청년을 대상으로 생애 1회에 한해 월 최대 20만 원씩, 최장 24개월간 월세를 지원하는 제도다. 단, 임차보증금과 관리비는 지원 대상에서 제외된다.

신청은 오는 30일 오전 9시부터 5월 29일 오후 4시까지 진행되며, 복지로 홈페이지를 통한 온라인 접수 또는 주민등록상 주소지 행정복지센터 방문을 통해 가능하다.

지원 대상은 부모와 별도로 거주하는 19세부터 34세까지의 무주택 청년이다. 청년독립가구의 소득이 기준 중위소득 60% 이하이면서 부모를 포함한 원가구 소득이 중위소득 100% 이하인 경우 신청할 수 있다. 재산 기준은 청년독립가구 1억 2,200만 원 이하, 원가구 4억 7,000만 원 이하다.

다만 주택 소유자(분양권·임차권 포함)나 2촌 이내 혈족 소유 주택 임차자, 공공임대주택 거주자, 다인 거주 형태의 전대차 계약자, 기존 청년 월세 한시 특별지원으로 24개월 지원을 이미 받은 경우는 대상에서 제외된다.

대상자는 소득과 재산을 반영한 점수에 따라 선발되며, 심사를 거쳐 오는 9월 최종 선정 결과가 통보될 예정이다. 선정된 경우 5월분부터 월세를 소급 지원받을 수 있다.

권오성 일자리청년과장은 “청년월세 지원사업이 한시사업에서 계속사업으로 전환되면서 정책의 지속성과 안정성이 확보됐다”며 “고물가 상황에서 청년들의 경제적 부담을 완화하고 취·창업 등 사회활동에 집중할 수 있도록 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편 포항시는 전세보증금 반환보증 보험료 지원사업과 신혼부부 월세 지원사업 등 다양한 주거복지 정책을 병행 추진하며 청년층의 안정적인 지역 정착과 자립 기반 마련에 나서고 있다.

Eligible recipients will be selected based on a score reflecting income and assets, and the final selection results are scheduled to be notified this coming September following a screening process. Those selected will be eligible for retroactive rent support starting from May.

Kwon Oh-sung, Head of the Jobs and Youth Division, stated, "As the Youth Rent Support Program transitions from a temporary initiative to a continuous one, the continuity and stability of the policy have been secured." He added, "We will provide support to alleviate the economic burden on young people amidst high inflation and enable them to focus on social activities such as employment and entrepreneurship."

Meanwhile, Pohang City is working to establish a foundation for the stable settlement and self-reliance of young people in the region by simultaneously implementing various housing welfare policies, such as a support program for Jeonse deposit return guarantee insurance premiums and a monthly rent support program for newlyweds.
