27일, 군은 산불 완전 진화를 목표로 장비 134대와 인력 2,283명을 투입하고, 피해 지역인 지품면, 달산면, 영덕읍, 영해면 등을 중심으로 집중적인 진화 작업을 벌이고 있다.

영덕군은 헬기 13대, 소방차 14대, 고성능 살수차 6대, 특장차 11대 등 대규모 장비와 함께, 공무원 300여 명, 소방·경찰·사회단체 274명 등 다양한 유관기관의 지원을 받아 진화 작업을 강화하고 있다. 

주요 진화 대상지는 산불 피해가 큰 9개 읍·면 중, 특히 피해가 심각한 지품면, 달산면, 영덕읍, 영해면 등이다. 진화작업은 산불의 심각도에 따라 장비와 인력을 7개 조로 나누어 발화 저지, 잔불 정리, 시설물 보호 등의 목표로 진행된다.

영덕군은 산불로 피해를 입은 주민들을 위해 대피소를 운영 중이다. 25일 한때 대피소에는 4,000명이 넘는 주민들이 대피했으나, 현재는 13개의 대피소에 979명이 거주하고 있다. 

영덕군은 이재민들이 임시주거시설이 마련될 때까지 군이 보유한 공공숙박시설과 민간 숙박시설에 전원 수용할 계획이다. 또한, 구호물자 488개와 응급구호세트, 취사구호세트 등을 대피소에 공급하며, 주민들의 안전과 복지를 지원하고 있다.

산불은 25일 오후 5시 54분 경 청송군 신촌 부근에서 발생했으며, 당시 25m/s 이상의 강풍에 의해 급속히 확산되었다. 현재까지 산불로 인한 피해 면적은 20,000㏊ 이상으로 추정되며, 8명이 사망하고, 8명이 부상을 입었다. 사망자 중 일부는 차량 전소와 화재로 목숨을 잃었고, 부상자들은 병원으로 이송되어 치료를 받고 있다.

시설 피해도 심각하다. 주택 924동이 전소되었고, 차량 3대와 어선 6척도 피해를 입었다. 또한, 지품면과 달산면의 주민들은 정수장 피해로 단수와 불편을 겪고 있으며, 영덕읍과 지품면 일대에서는 정전과 통신장애가 발생한 상태다.

영덕군은 향후 피해 복구를 위한 피해 현황 조사를 실시하고, 산불 진화가 완료되면 임시 주거시설 설치와 생계비 지원 등 재난지원금을 신속히 집행할 계획이다.
