【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=군위중학교 테니스부 2학년 이예린 선수가 ‘2025년 월드주니어테니스대회 아시아/오세아니아 지역 최종예선’(이하 월드주니어테니스대회 예선)에서 우승을 차지했다.

월드주니어테니스대회 예선은 지난 2일부터 7일까지 말레이시아 쿠칭에서 개최됐다. 

대한민국 대표팀의 일원으로 참가한 이예린 선수는 결승전에서 일본의 하라구치 레이를 상대로 1세트를 내준 후 2-1(1-6 6-2 6-3)로 역전승을 거두며 결승전 첫 승을 안겼다. 

두 번째 단식에서 임예린(천안TSC) 선수가 0-2(3-6 2-6)로 패배해 매치 스코어 1-1이 됐지만 마지막 복식 경기에서 이예린-김서현(전주전일중)선수조가 2-0(6-3 7-5)로 승리해 우승을 얻어냈다.

단식과 복식 모두에서 활약하며 대표팀 우승에 결정적 기여를 한 이예린 선수는 우승 후 “조별 리그에서 일본에게 패했지만 결승전에서 다시 만나 꼭 이기고 싶었다. 긴장도 됐지만 좋은 결과가 나와 기쁘다”고 소감을 밝혔다. 

군위중학교 테니스부는 실내·실외 코트를 모두 갖춘 종합테니스장을 활용해 날씨에 구애받지 않는 체계적인 훈련을 이어가고 있다. 이를 통해 학생 선수 육성과 대구광역시 테니스 발전에도 크게 이바지하고 있다.

Gunwi Middle School tennis club 2nd year player Lee Ye-rin won the ‘2025 World Junior Tennis Tournament Asia/Oceania Regional Final Qualifier’ (hereinafter referred to as the World Junior Tennis Tournament Qualifier).

The World Junior Tennis Tournament Qualifier was held in Kuching, Malaysia from the 2nd to the 7th.

Lee Ye-rin, who participated as a member of the Korean national team, won the first set against Japan’s Haraguchi Rei in the final, but then reversed the score 2-1 (1-6 6-2 6-3) to win her first final.

In the second singles, Lim Ye-rin (Cheonan TSC) lost 0-2 (3-6 2-6), making the match score 1-1, but in the last doubles match, the Lee Ye-rin-Kim Seo-hyun (Jeonju Jeonil Middle School) team won 2-0 (6-3 7-5) to win the championship.

Lee Ye-rin, who played both singles and doubles and made a decisive contribution to the national team's victory, said after the victory, "We lost to Japan in the group stage, but we wanted to meet again in the final and win. I was nervous, but I'm happy that we got a good result."

Gunwi Middle School's tennis club continues systematic training regardless of the weather by utilizing a comprehensive tennis court with both indoor and outdoor courts. Through this, they are contributing greatly to the development of student athletes and the development of tennis in Daegu Metropolitan City.
