【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구시교육청이 2026년을 ‘글로벌 교육수도 대구’ 도약의 원년으로 삼고, 세계적 수준의 배움과 가르침, 교육문화 혁신을 본격적으로 추진하기로 했다.

시교육청은 23일 오전 여민실에서 신년 기자간담회를 열고 ‘2026 대구교육 방향’을 발표했다. 이날 간담회에서 시교육청은 인공지능(AI) 대전환 시대를 맞아 창의성, 비판적 사고, 협업 등 인간만의 고유 역량을 교육의 중심에 두겠다는 비전을 내놓았다.

대구교육은 지금까지 학생 주도 배움과 수업·평가 혁신을 중심으로 공교육 개혁에 힘써왔다. 그 결과 교육부 시도교육청 평가 3년 연속 최우수, 전국 최저 수준의 기초학력 미달률과 학교폭력 피해 응답률, 그리고 직업계고 취업률 전국 1위 등의 성과를 이어오고 있다. IB 프로그램과 대구미래학교, 마음교육 등은 국내는 물론 해외에서도 주목을 받고 있다.

시교육청은 이런 성과를 발판 삼아, 앞으로 ‘세계적 배움’ 실현을 위해 모든 학생의 학습 나침반이 될 ‘대구학습법’을 개발할 계획이다. 질문과 탐구 중심 수업을 더욱 강화하고, 서·논술형과 구술형 평가도 확대해 학생이 깊이 배우는 문화를 뿌리내리겠다는 것이다. 아울러 IB 프로그램과 대구미래학교의 수업 및 평가 경험을 일반 학교로도 확산하고, 중등 탐구학교를 운영해 세계적 수준의 수업과 평가를 일반화할 방침이다.

학생의 정서적 성장과 포용적 교육도 한층 강화된다. 전국 최초로 도입한 초등 5학년과 중학교 1학년 마음학기제를 이어가고, 전 학년으로 단계별 마음학기제를 넓힌다. 유아부터 특수교육대상, 이주배경 학생까지 소외되는 이 없는 맞춤형 교육 체계 구축도 추진한다.

‘세계적 가르침’ 실현을 위해 교사의 역할도 새롭게 정의한다. 교사를 ‘러닝 디자이너’이자 ‘학습 촉진자’로 재정립하면서, 교실 동행 멘토링과 단계별 연수를 통해 수업·평가 전문성을 높인다. 교육과정 자율성과 전문학습공동체 운영도 확대해 교사의 주도성을 강조할 계획이다. 또, 교육활동 침해에 대응하는 체계도 더욱 촘촘히 마련한다.

이와 함께 생태전환교육과 세계시민 교육을 강화해 학교를 지역사회와 세계로 잇고, 학부모와 학생의 참여가 더욱 확대되는 신뢰와 책임의 학교문화를 만들어갈 예정이다.

The "Mind Semester" program, first introduced nationwide in fifth grade elementary school and first grade middle school, will be continued and expanded to all grade levels. The city will also pursue the development of a customized education system that leaves no one behind, from preschoolers to students with special needs and immigrant backgrounds.

To realize "world-class teaching," the role of teachers will be redefined. Teachers will be redefined as "learning designers" and "learning facilitators," enhancing their teaching and assessment expertise through classroom mentoring and phased training. We plan to expand curriculum autonomy and professional learning communities to emphasize teacher leadership. We will also establish a more robust system to respond to any disruption to educational activities.

Furthermore, we plan to strengthen ecological transformation education and global citizenship education to connect schools with the local community and the world, fostering a school culture of trust and responsibility that fosters greater parent and student participation.

Daegu Superintendent of Education Kang Eun-hee stated, "2026 will be the starting point for Daegu to rise beyond being the educational capital of Korea to becoming a global educational capital." She added, "Even in the age of AI, we will cultivate global citizens by focusing on uniquely human values."
