의원들은 포항시농업기술센터 소장으로부터 농작물 피해 현황과 대응 계획을 보고받은 뒤, 피해 농가를 찾아 농민들을 위로하고 실질적인 지원 방안 마련을 당부했다. 특히 의원들은 토양 관리 강화, 시기를 놓치지 않는 적기 방제, 적극적인 예찰 활동 등 예방 중심의 농업 관리가 중요하다는 데 뜻을 모았다.

김일만 의장은 “벼 깨씨무늬병이 전체 재배면적의 80% 이상, 사과 열과 피해도 30% 이상 발생하는 등 피해가 심각한 수준”이라며, “현장에서 확인한 내용을 관련 부서와 공유해 실효성 있는 대응책을 마련하겠다. 또한 기후변화와 이상기후로 인한 농작물 피해 예방에도 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

이번 포항시의회의 현장 점검은 농민들의 어려움을 직접 청취하고, 지역 농업의 안정적 생산 기반을 지키기 위한 대응 체계 마련의 일환으로 평가된다.
