【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항시의회 의원연구단체 ‘포항시 해양환경·관광발전 연구단체’(대표 전주형 의원)는 6일 오후 시의회 3층 회의실에서 ‘포항시 해양쓰레기 저감을 위한 해양환경미화원 도입방안 연구용역 최종보고회’를 열었다.

 이번 보고회는 지난 6월 착수보고 이후 진행된 연구 성과를 공유하고, 포항시 해양환경에 적합한 미화원 제도 도입 방안을 구체화하기 위해 마련됐다.

보고회에는 전주형 대표 의원을 비롯해 김성조·이재진·최해곤·최광열 의원, 연구용역 수행기관, 포항시 해양산업과장 등 관계자들이 참석했다. 참석자들은 포항지역 해양쓰레기 발생 현황, 관리 실태, 해양환경미화원 제도 적용 가능성, 해양쓰레기 저감 방안 등 연구결과 전반에 대해 심도 있게 논의했다.

특히 해양쓰레기 관리 사각지대와 비관리 해안 실태조사, 데이터 기반 관리체계 구축의 필요성이 강조됐으며, 장비 및 인력 운영의 단계별 도입 전략, 국비 지원 확대 방안도 제시됐다. 더불어 ▲드론·AI 기반 스마트 통합 관리 시스템 구축 ▲어업인·주민 참여 확대 ▲해양환경 교육 강화 ▲폐어구 저감 캠페인 등 다양한 정책 아이디어가 논의됐다.

연구단체는 이번 용역 결과를 토대로 포항시 해양쓰레기 문제 해결과 지속 가능한 해양환경 보전 정책이 한층 강화될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

전주형 의원은 “이번 최종보고회를 계기로 해양환경미화원 제도 도입을 구체화하고, 포항의 해양 특성을 반영한 현장 중심 관리정책을 마련하겠다”며 “포항시가 해양환경 보전의 선도 도시로 도약할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

This meeting was organized to share the research results from the initiation report in June and to elaborate on a plan to introduce a sanitation worker system suitable for Pohang's marine environment.

Councilmember Jeon Ju-hyung stated, "Using this final report as an opportunity, we will flesh out the introduction of a marine environment sanitation worker system and develop field-oriented management policies that reflect Pohang's marine characteristics. We will strive to help Pohang become a leading city in marine environment conservation."
