이번 ICIE 대표단의 내방은 동북아 해상물류 거점항 조성을 위한 경북도, 포항시, ㈜포항영일신항만(PICT) 등과의 업무협약 체결을 계기로 이뤄졌다.

이날 대표단은 영일만항과 러시아 극동 항만 간 정기·부정기 항로 개발, 북극항로 연계 국제물류체계 구축 방안 등을 의원들과 공유했으며, 시의회 본회의장과 홍보관 등 주요 시설을 둘러봤다.

ICIE 대표단은 “포항시의회의 환대에 감사드리며, 다가올 북극항로 시대에 영일만항이 핵심 거점항만으로 자리매김할 수 있도록 적극 협조하겠다”고 밝혔다.

김일만 포항시의회 의장은 “영일만항의 동북아 해상물류 거점항 조성을 위한 협력에 감사드린다”며 “시의회도 지역 항만 산업의 경쟁력 강화를 위해 지속적으로 지원하겠다”고 말했다.

On the morning of the 3rd, the Pohang City Council met with a visiting delegation from the International Council of Industrial Entrepreneurs (ICIE) in the Speaker's Office to discuss plans to establish Yeongilman Port as a Northeast Asian maritime logistics hub.

The ICIE delegation's visit coincided with the signing of a business agreement with North Gyeongsang Province, Pohang City, and Pohang Yeongil New Port Co., Ltd. (PICT) to develop a Northeast Asian maritime logistics hub.

The delegation shared with council members plans for developing regular and irregular shipping routes between Yeongilman Port and Russian Far East ports, as well as establishing an international logistics system linked to the Northern Sea Route. They also toured key facilities, including the city council's main conference hall and public relations center.

The ICIE delegation expressed their gratitude, saying, "We appreciate the Pohang City Council's hospitality and will actively cooperate to ensure Yeongilman Port establishes itself as a key hub port in the coming era of the Northern Sea Route."

Pohang City Council Chairman Kim Il-man said, “I appreciate your cooperation in establishing Yeongilman Port as a Northeast Asian maritime logistics hub,” and added, “The city council will continue to provide support to strengthen the competitiveness of the local port industry.”
