구미시에 따르면 이날 먼저 열린 추모제례 초헌관에는 김장호 구미시장, 아헌관에는 안주찬 구미시의회 의장, 종헌관에는 박동진 이사장이 참여했다.

이어 열린 추도식은 이철우 경상북도지사 및 구자근·김영식 국회의원의 추도사 낭독과 현악4중주 ‘님이 오시는지’ 추모공연과 기관장, 시도의원, 파독광부·간호사협회 대표 등이 헌작하며 진행됐다.

김장호 구미시장은 추도사를 통해 “구미시의 반도체, 방산, 메타버스 산업을 육성해 대한민국의 중심도시로 구미가 우뚝 설 수 있도록 41만 시민의 역량을 결집하겠다”고 약속하고“고인의 원대한 뜻을 가슴에 새기고 그 위상에 맞는 숭모관을 건립하여 님의 유산을 이어나갈 고향 도시의 책무와 도리를 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
