무상점검은 오는 27일 오전 10시부터 포항시 남구 해도동 형산강 포스코대교 보트 선착장에서 진행되며, 점검을 원하는 소유자는 사전 예약(포항해경 수상레저계 ☎054-750-2451)을 통해 서비스를 받을 수 있다.

포항해경에 따르면 최근 3년간 관내에서 발생한 수상레저 사고는 97건으로, 이 가운데 80%인 78건이 정비 불량과 운항 부주의 등 안전 불감증에 따른 단순 표류사고였다.

이에 해경은 전문 정비업체와 협력해 추진기 등 장비 점검과 점검 방법 교육을 진행하고, 안전문화 확산을 위해 수상레저 안전수칙을 알리는 캠페인도 병행할 계획이다.

이근안 포항해양경찰서장은 “국민들이 안전하고 즐겁게 수상레저를 즐기길 바란다”며 “무상점검에 적극 참여해 장비 점검 요령과 안전수칙을 익히고 스스로 안전을 지키는 문화가 정착되길 기대한다”고 말했다.
