이번 공연은 시각장애를 극복하고 활발한 연주 활동을 이어가고 있는 오케스트라의 무대를 통해 직원들에게 문화 향유 기회를 제공하고, 장애에 대한 인식 개선과 공감대 확산을 도모하기 위해 마련됐다.

‘하트시각장애인체임버오케스트라’는 2007년 3월 창단돼 시각장애인 단원 15명과 비장애인 단원 10명이 함께 활동하고 있다. 그동안 기업 초청 공연과 교육기관, 교정시설은 물론 미국 뉴욕 카네기홀, 영국 런던 국제 음악제, 예술의전당 등 국내외 주요 무대에서 연주를 펼치며 희망의 메시지를 전하고 장애 인식 개선에 기여해왔다.

포항해양경찰서는 3년째 이 오케스트라를 초청해 공연을 이어오고 있으며, 이번 무대에서는 요하네스 브람스의 ‘헝가리 무곡 1번’을 비롯해 영화 ‘러브레터’ OST, 한국 민요 ‘아리랑’ 등 다양한 장르의 곡을 선보여 직원들에게 풍성한 음악 감상의 시간을 제공했다.

이근안 서장은 “세계적인 수준의 오케스트라 연주를 직원들과 함께 직장에서 직접 들을 수 있어 뜻깊고 영광스럽다”며 “이번 공연이 직원들에게 장애에 대한 긍정적인 인식을 높이고 다양성을 존중하는 계기가 되길 바란다”고 말했다.

Pohang Coast Guard Hosts Healing Concert Featuring ‘Heart Chamber Orchestra for the Visually Impaired’

The Pohang Coast Guard (Commander Lee Geun-an) hosted a "Healing Concert" at its headquarters on the 14th, inviting the ‘Heart Chamber Orchestra for the Visually Impaired’ ahead of the 46th Day of Persons with Disabilities (April 20).

This performance was organized to provide employees with opportunities to enjoy culture through the stage of an orchestra that has overcome visual impairments and continues active musical performances, while also aiming to improve awareness of disabilities and foster empathy.

The ‘Heart Chamber Orchestra for the Visually Impaired’ was founded in March 2007 and currently consists of 15 visually impaired members and 10 non-disabled members. Over the years, the orchestra has delivered messages of hope and contributed to improving awareness of disabilities by performing at major domestic and international stages, including corporate invitations, educational institutions, and correctional facilities, as well as venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the London International Music Festival, and the Seoul Arts Center.

The Pohang Coast Guard has been inviting this orchestra to perform for the past three years. On this occasion, the orchestra presented a diverse repertoire of music, including Johannes Brahms’s "Hungarian Dance No. 1," the OST from the movie "Love Letter," and the Korean folk song "Arirang," providing employees with a rich musical experience.

Commander Lee Geun-an stated, "It is meaningful and an honor to be able to listen to a world-class orchestra performance live at the workplace with our staff," adding, "I hope this performance serves as an opportunity to raise positive perceptions of disabilities among employees and to foster respect for diversity."
