신고를 접수한 포항해경은 경비함정과 구조대, 연안구조정 등 구조세력을 현장에 긴급 투입했다. 현장 확인 결과 A호는 석축에 완전히 좌초돼 좌현으로 약 15도 기울어진 상태였으나, 기관실 등 선체 침수는 발생하지 않은 것으로 파악됐다.
해경 구조대원들은 서프보드를 이용해 좌초 선박에 접근해 안전 상태를 점검했으며, 선장 B씨(70대·남)는 구명조끼를 착용한 상태에서 연안구조정으로 안전하게 이동 조치됐다. 음주 측정 결과 이상은 없는 것으로 확인됐다.
해경은 선체 주변에 암초가 산재해 있어 이초 작업 시 선체 손상 우려가 크다고 판단, 크레인 작업선을 섭외해 인양 작업을 진행했다. A호는 이날 오후 12시 40분께 크레인으로 인양된 뒤 같은 날 오후 1시 26분경 인근 조선소로 예인·입항했다.
이근안 포항해양경찰서장은 “해상 사고 발생 시 무엇보다 신속한 신고가 중요하다”며 “형산강 하구에는 수면 아래 암초 위치를 알리는 부이가 설치돼 있는 만큼, 안전 운항을 위해 해당 부이와 충분한 거리를 두고 항해해 달라”고 당부했다.

Lee Geun-an, Chief of the Pohang Coast Guard, stated, "In the event of a maritime accident, prompt reporting is paramount. Buoys are installed at the mouth of the Hyeongsan River to indicate the location of reefs underwater. Therefore, for safe navigation, please maintain a sufficient distance from these buoys."
