이번 합동 수색에는 포항해양경찰서를 비롯해 육군 제50보병사단(16해안감시기동대대), 대구본부세관, 해양재난구조대(드론수색대), (사)한국해양안전협회 영일만지부, 포항북부경찰서 등 100여 명이 참여했다. 이들은 북부 해안 일대 9개 거점을 중심으로 광범위한 구간을 집중 수색했다.

특히 접근이 어려운 구역의 탐색을 위해 마약탐지견과 드론 10대가 투입되어 정밀 수색이 이루어졌으며, 이번 수색에서는 추가적인 마약류는 발견되지 않았다.

이근안 포항해양경찰서장은 “최근 해상 유입 가능성이 높은 마약류가 전국 해안가에서 간헐적으로 발견되고 있다”며 “앞으로도 유관기관 및 민간단체와의 긴밀한 협력을 통해 지속적인 수색과 감시를 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

그는 또 “해안가에서 정체불명의 포장물이나 마약류로 의심되는 물질을 발견할 경우 절대 만지거나 개봉하지 말고, 즉시 해양경찰이나 경찰기관에 신고해 달라”고 당부했다.

The Pohang Coast Guard (Chief Lee Geun-an) announced that it conducted a joint search along the northern coast of Pohang City on the 12th in response to the recent discovery of a series of suspected ketamine-like narcotics in tea packaging along the Pohang coast.

He also urged, "If you find unidentified packages or substances suspected of being narcotics on the coast, please do not touch or open them and immediately report them to the Coast Guard or other law enforcement agencies."
