첫 번째 사고는 24일 오후 3시 1분경 구룡포 하정2리 동방 0.5해리 해상에서 발생했다. 모터보트 A호(고무보트, 승선원 2명)의 스크류에 정치망 어장줄이 감기며 자력 항해가 불가능해진 것이다. 신고를 접수한 구룡포파출소 연안구조정은 즉시 출동해 약 30여 분 만에 선박을 정치망에서 이탈 조치했으며, 모터보트는 이후 자력으로 영암2리 항에 입항했다. 승선원 2명 모두 부상은 없는 것으로 확인됐다.

이어 같은 날 오후 3시 27분경 환호항 남동방 0.7해리 해상에서는 모터보트 B호(1톤급)가 원인 미상의 시동 꺼짐으로 표류해 구조 요청을 보냈다. 현장에 도착한 포항파출소 연안구조정은 선박을 예인해 두호항으로 안전하게 입항시켰으며, 승선원 1명 역시 이상이 없는 것으로 확인됐다. 음주 측정 결과 음주 혐의는 없는 것으로 나타났다.

이근안 포항해양경찰서장은 “출항 전 연료와 엔진 등 기본 장비 점검은 물론 항해구역 주변 어장과 시설물 위치를 사전 확인해야 한다”며 “앞으로도 해상 안전 확보를 위해 순찰 강화와 신고 즉응 대응 체계를 지속적으로 운영해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

The Pohang Police Station coastal rescue boat arrived at the scene and towed the vessel safely back to Duho Port. One crew member was also found to be in good health. A breathalyzer test revealed no evidence of intoxication.

Lee Geun-an, Chief of the Pohang Coast Guard, stated, "Before departure, it is essential to inspect basic equipment, such as fuel and engines, as well as to preemptively identify fishing grounds and facilities in the navigation area." He added, "We will continue to strengthen patrols and operate a rapid response system to ensure maritime safety."
