이번 사업은 산업위기지역 기업이 금융기관에서 운영·영업활동에 필요한 자금을 대출받을 경우, 정부가 대출 이자의 일부를 지원해 금융비용 부담을 완화하는 제도다. 철강산업 경기 둔화 등으로 어려움을 겪는 지역 기업의 자금 유동성 개선과 투자 여건 조성을 목표로 한다.
지원 대상은 포항시에 사업장을 둔 중소·중견기업으로, 주된 산업인 1차 금속제조업 영위 기업과 해당 산업과 거래관계에 있는 기업이다. 취급 금융기관을 통해 경영 안정이나 시설투자 자금을 대출받을 경우 이차보전 혜택을 받을 수 있다.
올해는 기업당 대출 한도를 기존 10억 원에서 15억 원으로 확대하고, 지원 범위도 운전자금에서 시설자금까지 넓혔다. 이에 따라 원자재 구입 등 경영안정 자금은 물론, 생산설비 도입과 사업장 신축·확충 등 시설투자에 따른 금융 부담도 덜 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
이번 정책은 ‘지역 산업위기 대응 및 지역경제 회복을 위한 특별법’에 근거해 지정된 산업위기선제대응지역 기업을 대상으로 추진된다. 지역 주력산업과 연관 중소기업의 경쟁력 회복을 위한 실질적 금융지원 수단이라는 점에서 의미가 크다.
이상엽 포항시 일자리경제국장은 “올해는 대출 한도 확대와 시설자금 지원을 포함해 지원을 한층 강화했다”며 “자금이 필요한 지역 중소·중견기업이 적극 활용해 경영 안정과 경쟁력 확보에 도움이 되길 바란다”고 말했다.

This year, the loan limit per company has been increased from KRW 1 billion to KRW 1.5 billion, and the scope of support has been expanded from working capital to facility financing.
