【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항시는 3일 정월대보름을 맞아 열리는 달집태우기 등 지역 행사장 6개소를 대상으로 대대적인 현장 안전 점검을 실시했다.
이번 점검은 경상북도와 경찰·소방 등 유관기관이 참여한 합동 점검으로, ‘제18회 유강 정월대보름 달집태우기’를 비롯한 주요 행사장을 중심으로 진행됐다. 정월대보름 행사는 대규모 인파가 밀집하고 화기를 사용하는 특성상 화재·산불 및 인명 사고 위험이 높아 각별한 안전관리가 요구된다.
시는 행사 당일 오전부터 안전 전문가들과 함께 ▲방문객 밀집에 대비한 분산 통행로 확보 ▲시설물 전도 위험 요소 제거 ▲인파 밀집 예방 시설 설치 ▲비상 시 응급차량 통행로 확보 여부 등을 중점 점검했다.
특히 불꽃이 비산하는 달집태우기 특성을 고려해 화재 예방 대책을 강화했다. 주요 점검 사항은 ▲달집 높이의 2배 이상 안전거리 확보 ▲안전선 설치 및 통제요원 배치 ▲행사장 주변 가연성 물질 및 잡목 제거 ▲소방안전요원과 산불진화 장비 사전 배치 등이다.
시는 행사 기간 중 안전상황실을 운영하고 현장에 비상 안전요원을 배치하는 한편, 경찰·소방과 긴밀한 협조 체계를 유지해 비상 상황 발생 시 즉각 대응에 나설 방침이다.
장상길 포항시장 권한대행은 “동시다발적으로 행사가 열리는 만큼 시민과 관광객의 안전을 최우선에 두고 행정력을 집중하겠다”며 “철저한 인파 관리와 화재 예방 대책으로 단 한 건의 사고도 발생하지 않도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편 포항시는 순간 최대 관람객 1,000명 이상이 예상되거나 산·수면에서 개최되는 행사, 불이나 가연성 가스를 사용하는 고위험 축제에 대해 안전관리실무위원회 심의와 유관기관 합동 점검을 의무화하는 등 선제적 안전관리 체계를 운영하고 있다.

Meanwhile, Pohang City is implementing a proactive safety management system. This includes mandating review by the Safety Management Working Committee and joint inspections by relevant organizations for events expected to attract more than 1,000 visitors at a time, events held on mountains or water, and high-risk festivals involving fire or flammable gas.
