【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구광역시는 10일 오후 2시 국회의원회관 제1소회의실에서 우재준 국회의원 주관으로 ‘K-아이웨어 글로벌 정책협의회 발대식’을 개최한다고 밝혔다.
이번 발대식은 그동안 후발국의 저가 공세로 어려움을 겪어온 국내 안경산업이 K-콘텐츠 확산과 스마트 아이웨어 시장 성장이라는 새로운 기회를 맞이함에 따라, 국가 차원의 ‘K-아이웨어’ 전략적 육성을 위한 협력 플랫폼을 구축하기 위해 마련됐다.
K-아이웨어 글로벌 정책협의회는 ▲한류·브랜드·디자인 ▲제조·유통 혁신 ▲AI 기반 기술개발 ▲기업 집적지 활성화 등 4개 분과로 구성된다. 협의회에는 민·관·산·학·연 전문가들이 참여해 K-아이웨어 글로벌 경쟁력 강화를 위한 협력 체계를 구축하고, 국가 전략 산업화를 위한 법·제도 개선에도 협력할 예정이다.
이날 행사에는 국회와 산업통상자원부, 문화체육관광부 관계자 및 기업 관계자 등이 참석한다. 행사에서는 우재준 의원의 개회사를 시작으로 출범 선언문 낭독, 위촉장 수여, 주제 발표와 토론 등이 진행될 예정이다.
대구시는 안광학 산업 육성을 위해 국내 유일의 안경 전문 생산기술연구소인 한국안광학산업진흥원을 2004년 설립하고, 2006년 전국 최초로 노원·침산동 일대를 안경산업특구로 지정했다. 또한 24년 전통의 안경산업 전문 전시회인 대구국제안경전(DIOPS)을 개최하는 등 산업 기반을 꾸준히 확충해 왔다.
이와 함께 대구시는 이러한 산업 인프라를 바탕으로 국내 안경산업의 허브 역할을 할 ‘K-아이웨어 파크’ 조성도 추진하고 있다.
김정기 대구광역시장 권한대행 행정부시장은 “이번 정책협의회 출범이 지역 차원에 머물러 있던 안경산업에 대한 관심을 국가 차원으로 확대하고 스마트 아이웨어 전환을 선도하는 계기가 될 것”이라며 “대구시도 K-아이웨어 산업 육성을 위한 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 말했다.

Experts from the public, private, industrial, academic, and research sectors will participate in the council to establish a cooperative system to strengthen the global competitiveness of K-Eyewear and to collaborate on legal and institutional reforms to support its national strategic industrialization.
The event will be attended by officials from the National Assembly, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and business representatives. The event will begin with an opening address by Representative Woo Jae-joon, followed by the reading of the launch declaration, the presentation of certificates of appointment, and keynote speeches and discussions.
To foster the ophthalmic optical industry, Daegu City established the Korea Ophthalmic Industry Promotion Agency (KOOPIA), the nation's only specialized eyewear production technology research institute, in 2004. In 2006, it designated the Nowon and Chimsan areas as the nation's first eyewear industry special zone. Furthermore, the city has steadily expanded its industrial base, hosting the Daegu International Optical Show (DIOPS), a specialized eyewear exhibition with a 24-year history.
Furthermore, Daegu City is also pursuing the creation of the "K-Eyewear Park," which will serve as a hub for the domestic eyewear industry, leveraging this industrial infrastructure.
Kim Jeong-gi, acting mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City, said, “The launch of this policy council will serve as an opportunity to expand interest in the eyewear industry, which has remained at the local level, to the national level and lead the transition to smart eyewear,” and added, “Daegu City will also spare no support in fostering the K-eyewear industry.”
