대구시는 경상북도, 한국무역협회 대구경북지역본부와 협력해 올해부터 청년무역사관학교를 확대 운영한다고 밝혔다.

‘청년무역사관학교’는 급변하는 통상환경에 대응해 기업 수요에 맞는 실무형 청년 무역 인재를 양성하고 지역 수출 중소기업의 인력 문제를 해결하기 위해 추진되는 사업이다. 2013년 시작된 이후 지금까지 총 862명의 수료생을 배출했으며, 누적 취업률 92.8%를 기록하는 등 지역 대표 실무형 인재 양성 프로그램으로 자리 잡았다.

올해 모집 인원은 72명으로 대구·경북 소재 대학 3·4학년 재학생 및 졸업(예정)자 또는 대구·경북에 주소를 둔 만 39세 이하 청년이면 지원할 수 있다. 타 지역 대학 재학생의 경우 부모의 주소지가 대구·경북이면 신청이 가능하다.

모집 기간은 3월 12일부터 4월 5일까지이며, 한국무역협회 대구경북지역본부 홈페이지를 통해 온라인 접수를 받는다. 이후 1차 서류전형과 2차 면접전형을 거쳐 최종 선발된다.

올해 교육 과정은 실무 중심 커리큘럼으로 운영된다. 5월부터 온라인 사전교육을 통해 무역 기초 지식을 학습한 뒤, 6월부터 오프라인 본 교육과 6박 7일 몰입형 합숙 훈련을 통해 수출 시뮬레이션과 해외마케팅 경진대회 등 실질적인 무역 역량을 강화할 예정이다.

특히 청년들이 선호하는 글로벌 무역 현장 탐방 인원을 기존 12명에서 24명으로 두 배 확대해 해외시장 경험 기회를 넓힌다. 이와 함께 국내 종합상사 체험형 현장 견학, 지역 우수기업 인턴십, 취업박람회 연계 등 체계적인 사후관리 프로그램도 제공할 계획이다.

또 수료생들은 선배들이 자발적으로 구성한 ‘청년무역인연합’에 가입해 선배들과의 1대1 멘토링을 통해 취업과 진로에 대한 지원도 받을 수 있다.

박기환 대구시 경제국장은 “이번 사업을 통해 대구·경북의 우수한 청년들이 함께 성장하고 실제 무역 현장에서 활약하며 지역 수출 경쟁력을 높이는 핵심 인재로 성장하길 기대한다”며 “무역 전문가를 꿈꾸는 청년들의 많은 관심과 참여를 바란다”고 말했다.

Daegu Metropolitan City is expanding the operation of the ‘Youth Trade Academy’ to alleviate the labor shortage faced by local export companies and to foster specialized trade professionals.

Daegu City announced that it will expand the operation of the Youth Trade Academy starting this year in cooperation with Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Headquarters of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA).

The ‘Youth Trade Academy’ is a project designed to cultivate practical, youth trade talent tailored to corporate demands in response to the rapidly changing trade environment, and to resolve the manpower issues faced by local export SMEs. Since its inception in 2013, it has produced a total of 862 graduates and recorded a cumulative employment rate of 92.8%, establishing itself as a leading local program for training practical talent.

The recruitment quota for this year is 72 people. Eligible applicants include current students in their third or fourth year or graduates (or prospective graduates) of universities located in Daegu or Gyeongbuk, as well as young people aged 39 or younger residing in Daegu or Gyeongbuk. Students currently enrolled in universities outside of Korea are eligible to apply if their parents reside in Daegu or Gyeongbuk.

The application period runs from March 12 to April 5, and online applications are accepted via the website of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Headquarters. Final selection will be made following a first-round document screening and a second-round interview.

This year's training program will be operated with a practical, hands-on curriculum. Starting in May, participants will learn basic trade knowledge through online pre-training. From June onwards, the program will strengthen practical trade capabilities through offline main training and a 6-night, 7-day intensive residential camp, which will include export simulations and overseas marketing competitions.

In particular, the number of participants for the global trade field trip, which is highly favored by young people, will be doubled from 12 to 24 to expand opportunities for overseas market experience. Along with this, systematic follow-up management programs will be provided, including experiential field trips to domestic general trading companies, internships at outstanding local companies, and connections to job fairs.

In addition, graduates can join the ‘Youth Traders Association,’ voluntarily organized by their seniors, and receive support regarding employment and career paths through one-on-one mentoring.

Park Ki-hwan, Director General of the Economic Bureau of Daegu City, said, “Through this project, we hope that outstanding young people from Daegu and Gyeongbuk will grow together, play active roles in the actual trade field, and develop into key talents who enhance regional export competitiveness,” adding, “We hope for the interest and participation of young people who dream of becoming trade experts.”
