양희 예비후보는 이날 대구 동구선거관리위원회를 방문해 예비후보 등록을 마쳤다. 등록 뒤 양 예비후보는 “그동안 특정 정당 위주의 정치로 동구 발전이 더뎠다”며 “이제는 주민 실생활을 실질적으로 개선할 수 있는 민생 중심의 구청장이 필요하다”고 출마의 뜻을 밝혔다.

또한 양 후보는 △안전하고 안심할 수 있는 동구 △돌봄 사각지대 없는 동구 △공평하고 공정한 마을 △책임 있는 생태 정책 등을 주요 공약으로 제시했다. 이어 “현장에서 주민들이 겪는 어려움을 누구보다 잘 알고 있다”며 “그동안 거대 정당이 외면해 온 시민의 목소리를 대변하겠다”고 강조했다.

양 예비후보는 “이번 선거는 동구가 과거의 관행에 머물지, 아니면 새로운 미래로 나아갈지를 가르는 분수령이 될 것”이라며 “돌봄, 복지, 생태가 존중받는 지역을 반드시 만들겠다”고 밝혔다.

양 후보는 오는 16일 공식 출마 기자회견을 열고, 주요 공약과 세부 활동 계획을 발표할 예정이다.

한편, 대구 동구청장 선거에는 국민의힘 소속 예비후보 8명을 비롯해 신효철 더불어민주당 예비후보, 정한숙 조국혁신당 예비후보 등이 등록한 상태로, 양 예비후보까지 모두 11명이 출사표를 던졌다.
