최 예비후보는 의원 시절 남천과 금호강 등 경산의 하천 정비에 국비 예산을 투입한 경험을 언급하며 “경산에서 가장 긴 강인 오목천을 종합 개발하겠다”는 공약을 발표했다,

그는 “오목천을 따라 용성, 남산, 압량, 대임지구 구간에 권역별 테마 수변공원을 조성하겠다”며 “권역별 수변공원에는 축구장, 파크골프장 등 생활체육시설도 조성할 것”이라고 약속했다.

또한 “용성 지역에 농촌체험형 휴양마을, 펜션단지, 올레길, 숲체험림도 조성해 웰니스 산업의 중심으로 만들겠다”며 “용성 수변공원에 휴양단지, 오목천 발원지인 송림에 계곡 물놀이장을 만들고, 기존 송림 오토캠핑장도 활성화 하겠다”는 포부를 전했다.

이와 함께 용성에서 금호강까지 23km 오목천 강변도로와 자전거 도로설치, 사계절 꽃이 피는 플라워 로드 조성 등의 계획을 밝히기도 했다.

최경환 예비후보는 “오목천은 용성, 남산, 자인, 압량, 북부동을 거쳐 금호강으로 합류하는 등 경산을 가로지르는 가장 긴 강”이라면서 “방치된 오목천을 개발하여 경산시민의 품으로 돌려 드리겠다”고 했다.
