지난 4일 경북 구미시 을 예비후보자 A씨의 지지자 B씨가 지역구 주민들에게 '대통령 시계'를 돌렸다는 의혹성 기사가 보도 되었다.

이에 따라 선거관리위원회가 조사에 착수할 것으로 알려지는 가운데 더불어민주당 경북도당은 “대통령실의 기강은 바닥을 모르고 추락하고 있다”며 비판에 나섰다.

민주당 경북도당은 “해당 시계는 이른바 MZ세대를 겨냥해 특수 제작한 것으로 엄격히 관리 되어야 한다”고 강조했다.

그러면서 “이를 사적으로 선거에 이용했다면 사전선거운동은 물론 제3자 뇌물공여죄로 법적 책임을 면하기 어렵다”고 덧붙여 말했다.

이어 “용산 대통령실의 문란함은 여기에 그치지 않는다”며 “비슷한 시기 국민의힘 권성동 의원이 문자로 대통령 비서관에게 대통령 시계 30개를 요청한 사실이 들통 나는 등 대통령실의 기강은 바닥을 모르고 추락하고 있다”고 꼬집었다.

더불어민주당 경북도당은 “총선을 앞두고 어느 때 보다 엄중해야 할 대통령실에서 특권과 특혜가 난무하고 사익을 위해 불법을 서슴없이 저지르는데 대해 크게 우려하지 않을 수 없다”고 강조했다.

아울러 “관계기관은 해당 후보를 철저히 수사하고 국민의힘은 구미 시민들에게 즉각 사과할 것을 강력히 촉구한다”고 밝혔다.
